Seriously considering taking a one day trip down to Chicago and taking pictures of every development down there and having one big field day of updates.

Seeing this much going on in the city is amazing and truly deserves just a day of updates and celebration.

I read somewhere that there are currently 44 highrises going up in the Chicago area.

Yeah. 44.

Because this tower seems to progress very quickly. I have expected foundation work to take much more time for a tower of this size.

In the downtown area, bedrock is usually about 110' down. What's been favorable this year is the weather. For the first time since any type of weather records have been kept, there was no measurable snow in January or February.

Chicago has renewed it's commitment to stay ever number 2, America's second skyline, but no matter who is third it's distant at best.
Chicago is either a Midwestern or a Rustbelt city, it can choose one of those to deny but not both. And it sure got slow for a while and
doesn't have the infinite and unstoppable interest NYC manages to generate, but seems to be holding on. To be fair, it wasn't immune
to the postwar decline, losing an entire million people from mid-century peak to a recent low. It's just starting to eek out a turnaround.

No drugs, just a little overtired. Sorry. And I didn't even mean to come here, it was on the way to a different thread.

And in reality I could not care less about buildings that actually make little difference, and in Chicago no less, the only "megacity" in the US that has
a crime rate as high as medium metros, the majority of which in the US have terrible crime rates and are what make cities look bad in US public perception.
I'm not talking about recent events.

That interesting... I was reading about Chicago's declining population. I guess from what you say its poorer people.
