As DubaiM already pointed out, we knew about this project for a long time (I think since 2012 or early 2013), but had no information about the height until now

I believe it will be complicated to build the big skybridges above the MBR-BLVD, which will connect the Dubai Mall with the extension.

Nah, if they built the pedestrian bridges for the Metro stations over SZR, these ones will be easy.

It's an update for the DAMAC quadruplet towers, too.

So fast. Can't believe how crazy dubai is. How is shenzhen or new york ever supposed to catch up (concerning number of supertalls) =P hope burj 2020 starts next year as well, so that this big wave of new supertalls can have a megatall as well!

Indeed, Dubai will stay the nr.1 in terms of the number of supertalls in the future.

??? but why would anyone want to live there ? Are any of these buildings occupied ? Is there a long stop over at the airport so people detour ? Tell me I am wrong, I will accept education...but just don't see how this place exists...? I mean, with respect, if you take away any man made artificial environment it is hell on earth...Then, I could say that about most of Europe or North America...so be happy...enjoy, Guess my perspective is slanted buy living in paradise...while I'm still living...so far ?

I like that they have designs that go together, helps being from the same masterplan. Certainly beats the random mishmash on SZR.

Does Emaar own or have all the development rights for those projects? Or are they split among multiple developers?

Everything on the inside of the boulevard and/or facing it from the outer side are Emaar projects. The rest of the (so called) Downtown area is split between Emaar and from private developers developments.

What you miss is that Dubai is a big old city. But here you only see the new area's. Dubai does have an old large center with many people. It's quite far from these new areas though.
