So many empty plots to fill. It will probably be twenty years at least until the whole area looks "complete".

Yepp. But when it's complete (perhaps with one more business bay supertall) it will look fantastic
Not to mention the area around with meydan tower and the lagoons project

I'm pretty confident Downtown will be complete in 6 - 8 years from now. Countless projects were anounced and started construction in the last 12 months alone.
Business Bay is another story, as there are many more plots and we're not seeing that many new projects per year. I hope things will speed up there once all plots in Downtown are sold out... this leaves developers who want to invest in this area no choice other than building in BB. And if Meydan City actually gets build then BB will be an important link between Downtown and Meydan City.

But the more projects we get the more it seems to spread out, a lot of new projects are kind of a bit further out is my feeling. it would need more highrise buildings in the 100m-150m region, but a lot, kind of like Dubai Marina has them as a buffer zone

By the way guys, here we see pics taken from BK but when you drive through Business Bay it has a totally different feeling, city feeling that is.

If they do go through with Meydan one project (Dubai one tower) Business bay will become the target of developers and investors, as DS has mentioned earlier. I mean imagine the view when you are surrounded by megatalls from both sides (and supertalls, but lets be honest here, this is Dubai, Supertalls are kind of found everywhere and boring for the city's standards)

I agree with the comments above, but not everything has to be highrises. I'd like a portion of the remaining plots to be filled with lowrises, that are very important when it comes to street level density.

I agree. What makes New York City and Shenzen look a lot more like cities is not the number of tall towers, but the great number of highrises around them.

The Zaha Hadid quote is so unfortunate. Flow without a texture and liveliness is emptiness.
That is why cities with rich ancient texture makes us return there decade after decade.

First cladding, but I'm not sure if it is test cladding.
