The ones in the last pictures I posted are temporally stored, the windows are covered up for protection and probably also to prevent any window condensation that could cause damage to the interior if nothing is done about it. It might not cause big damage, but everything has to be perfect when the plane has to be delivered. They won't stay stored too long, it's just with the backlog that was created because of the grounding other 787s will be delivered first to these customers.

~~~~~~~~~
Another B-1 is scheduled for today.
LN101 ZA120 JA820A ANA
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE120
This will be the 1st long haul 787 for ANA that will be delivered to them after the grounding.
And a B-2 is scheduled for..
LN98 ZA185 JA834J JAL
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE185
It could turn out to be quite a delivery rush at the end of the month.
Boeing's CEO has said again that they are open to increase the output beyond the 10 per month that should be reached at the end of this year.
Quote:
Boeing Open to Raising 787 Output Again to Shrink Backlog
Boeing Co. (BA) Chief Executive Officer James McNerney is open to another increase in production rates for the 787 Dreamliner so the world’s largest planemaker can shrink a backlog of 840 jets.
A faster tempo would give Boeing a chance to attract new customers, McNerney said today an interview, as waiting times now run six years or more. Output is already supposed to double in 2013 to 10 a month, and he didn’t give a possible goal.
“We haven’t decided to do that yet, because we’re just trying to keep our feet underneath us,” “That’s one thing we could do to bring the backlog down and make spaces for people who want to buy the aircraft.”
Full article by Bloomberg:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-0...k-backlog.html
There's a big chance that Boeing will officially announce a further increase of the production rate together with the launch of the 787-10. Since the -10 will have a EIS in 2018 while the current backlog runs into 2019 2020 it will actually be needed to make it happen.
The increase was announced back when they announced the 787-9 was getting ready to be built. The lines are already operating pretty close to full capcity in Seattle and Charleston SC if I am not mistaken.
The production rate of the 777 is now 8.3 per month on 1 production line, the 787 is now going at 7 per month at 3 production lines. We can safely say that the current lines are far from working at max capacity.
The next increase to 10 per month will also be first on 3 lines. But since the surge line in Everett is likely to be closed by 2016 the remaining 2 lines will then have to go to 5 per month each in the next 2 years if there wouldn't be no further rate increase. Any further increases could be done on the 2 permanent lines, but with the introduction of the 787-10 it might be better to have another 3rd line to not disrupt the production of the -8s and -9s. Just like the surge line will now functions for the -9, the 1st one will loaded there on 5/30/2013 and will take about 2 month to be built.
27th May CAAC should certify 787 in China. China Southern will be taking delivery of B-2725 on 28th May, probably. This is rumor of course.
And today it's again performing another test flight.
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE5
And they are doing some serious test flights with the ZA005, last week it performed a 9:30 long flight. Today it's scheduled for a 6 hour flight, they are really going for the flight hours.
~~~~~

Boeing also had a investors conference today. It didn't really go into specifics about the 787, but the CEO, McNerney said that there's a big interest in the 787-10 and that it will officially be launched soon.

You can look at some of the PDF presentations here:
http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix....ventId=4959172

One of the presentations has this sheet, showing the 787 as part of Boeings future product line.

In few days, I think.
There are 11 frames for Chinese carriers built, these could be delivered even in one or two months from now.
