I wonder when their new owners will be announced. It's only logical that the 2 frames that are destined for RwandAir are not allocated yet, since they have yet to firm up the order.
The airline signed a LOI, in 2011. As of November 2012, RwandAir and Boeing were near to finalise the order. They plan to take delivery of the first one in 2015 or 2016.

Due to the suspension the foreign aid, Rwanda issued a 10 year bond $400 Millions in April to upgrade infrastructure but also to help RwandAir to pay debt due to loans used to buy brand new aircraft (B737-800s, CRJ-900NGs and a Dash Q400), after its restructuring. The bond was over subscribed. Investors placed orders worth $ 3,5 billion.

It will probably include the purchase of the B787, so probably the order will be confirmed by the end of the year, or early 2014

That's pretty interesting. To where do you believe RwandAir's B787s will operate to from Kigali? I know that Ethiopian already operates quite a handful of 787s, and there are a few other African airlines ordering it as well... And by the way, has RwandAir operated long-haul aircraft before?

Is there any chance for AC to open up YYZ-WAW with their future 787?

Probably not since LOT flies the route already. They might do it with a plane towards the end of the deliveries of their 787s if they can't find a spot in it's route structure. Air Canada has multiple hubs that they will end up placing their 787s. Air Canada already does YYVR-SYD with 777s. BNE would be interesting for Air Canada.

Air Rwanda, the predecessor of RwandAir operated 1 Boeing 707 up until 1996 when the airline stopped operations because of the genocide happening in the country. They seem to have used it mostly as a freighter although it was a 707-348C that could be easily converted, the passenger version came with a cargo door.

RwandAir could use it to Amsterdam, Rwanda signed an aviation treaty with the Netherlands earlier this year giving them the right to open a route. Other possible routes are the standard London and Paris in Europe and nowadays opening a route to China is also very popular with African airlines.

GECAS has announced a commitment to order 10 787-10X

http://boeing.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=2704

Let's hope it's the beginning of many 787-10 orders at Paris.

Matt posted some interesting photos from EMC:

LN25 ZA230 VT-ANA
LN26 ZA231 VT-ANB
LN28 ZA232 VT-ANC
further inside is sitting LN21 JA823J for Japan Airlines, after repaint it was rolled inside EMC again, probably is near completion (battery fix or some minor jobs)

LN30 ZA234 for Air India, has been rolled out some time ago, now under last jobs.

LN17 or LN19 RAM NTU. Probably LN17, I saw LN19 sitting in tower apron on photos taken few days ago.

LN36 ZA381 B-2726 for China Sourthern was rolled outside EMC, and re-work is probably completed or is nearly completion.

JA822A, ET-AOO, G-ZBJC are under battery fix.

China Southern LN43 B-2727 waiting for battery fix. Behind is LN11 ZA800 for Transaero Airlines, ANA NTU.

Yep and Momo1435 has said good thing. The Air Rwanda B707s were used to Belgium.

RwandAir plans to serve China and Europe. Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt and Brussels are in top of the list. But i think that will be used sometimes to Dubai or Mumbai (the airline is waiting for approval from India)

Great stuff! Looking forward to seeing the -10 as well as the -9. I think they'll be the 2 better looking variants in the 787 family.

We will see the airplane deliveries starting in 2018. First flight is in 2017. Does anyone have any updates with the first 787-9?
