What's the point of leaving the massive doors open. Besides the point of a beautiful photo op. Are they doing work on the doors or cooling down the building?

LN21 ZA176 JA823J delivered! After 3 years after FAL rollout this early frame will finally go into commercial service. Only one early bird for JAL left, LN20 ZA175 JA821J, currently in final straight to be completed. It should be repainted now, probably moved again to EMC for last works. It should be delivered this year, probably not later then in two months from today.

From other news, LN43 ZA382 B-2727 moved to flightline from EMC, security tapes are being removed from windows, so this one is in pre-flight preparation.

And delivery #10 this month, the 2nd for Hainan Airlines.

LN73 ZA430 B-2728 Hainan Airlines
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/CHH2728

It's still possible to have a draw with the previous record for most deliveries in 1 month. If Air India takes another one in the next couple of days there will be 11 deliveries, the same number as in December 2012.

That would be good news too. Then the grounding happened shortly after.

Now, this will be a really interesting proposition, and perhaps this route could become the longest one for the Dreamliner...

United Airlines has submitted an application to the US Department of Transportation (US-DOT) to operate a route between San Francisco and Chengdu in western China. The airline has said in its press release that it will be operated with a B787 thrice weekly from 9 June 2014, although in the formal application, United will start the route from 11 June 2014. Proposed schedule:

UA008 SFO1335 – 1850+1CTU 788 136
UA009 CTU1000 – 0850SFO 788 135

Source

With this route, I sense that this will be Chengdu's first Transpacific service, in which it will finally connect Sichuan Province and beyond with the United States.

JA823J left her nest during heavy rain, 3 years after FAL rollout.

There are some news articles out there that say that Ethiopian ordered 8 more 787s.
http://www.businesstraveller.com/new...ght-more-b787s
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23890654

But it's a classic case of misinformation. Ethiopian has taken delivery of 5 dreamliners and has 8 more to be delivered (5 from direct orders, 3 from a leasing deal).

The actual news is that even though the fire in the beacon that has grounded one of the 787s they are still very happy with the dreamliner and that they will be ordering more in the future. But that the waiting time (the first new delivery slots are in 2018) is just too long right now.

Well Boeing should be grateful for every possible order that comes their way for the 787 program.

Here are some photos from a trip from Hongqiao to Baiyun with Southern Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

There seems to be some issues with the tug here at Hongqiao Airport.

About to land at Baiyun Airport:

I see ANA has the LN146 ZB197 slot reserved for the -9. How come, because I thought Air New Zealand was the launch customer.......
