Royal Brunei to Start Boeing 787 Operation from December 2013

Royal Brunei on Thursday (12SEP13) opened reservation for its Boeing 787 operation. First Boeing 787 route opened for reservation is Bandar Seri Begawan – Dubai – London Heathrow, scheduled to start from 01DEC13 (DXB/LHR departure from 02DEC13).

BI097 BWN2100 – 0140+1DXB0300+1 – 0640+1LHR 787 D
BI098 LHR1705 – 0410+1DXB0535+1 – 1730+1BWN 787 D

Royal Brunei’s 2-class 254-seater Boeing 787 includes 18 Business Class seats (2-2-2) and 236 Economy Class seats (3-3-3).

I guess that Royal Brunei is going to go head to head with BA, EK, and QF on the LHR-DXB route. Hope the great success on the route.

Now directly from Boeing:

"787-9 first flight expected in coming days—as early as Tuesday 9/17"

https://twitter.com/BoeingAirplanes/...34671824719872

In the past couple of days they have done gauntlet tests, these are test where they simulate an actual flight on the ground. They have a way to trick the systems to make the plane actually believe that it's flying.

ps.
The 1st flight date of 9/14 could not even have been true since the main runway at the airport is closed for maintenance this weekend.

With the Jet Airways and the Royal Brunei 787s that were scheduled for delivery at the end of this month it will become very tight to make this actually happen. They would have their 1st flights right of the start of the week and there should be no problems, otherwise the delivery will for sure slip into October.

I understand that. I wonder if the RAT can be retracted again in flight once it has been deployed?

I don't know the date, but the customer acceptance flight is supposed to be later this month.

Another shot from Australian Business Traveller:

The construction work must have finished early, or was done in such a way that some flights were still possible.

Even Matt Cawby from Paine Field Blog didn't expect any activity today.

"Oh crap ZA215 just flew over headed to Paine"

The LN128 ZA445 V8-DLA Royal Brunei Airlines was also up on the runway for some taxi tests yesterday, expect it to fly today or tomorrow. We might also see some taxi test on the 1st 787-9.

Royal Air Maroc (AT) will receive its first Boeing 787 in December 2014 and is likely to firm up an option. AT has five 787s on order, plus one option (ATW Daily News, Aug. 11, 2005).

An AT spokesman said the second aircraft will be delivered in March 2015. “The third and the fourth will be delivered between March and April 2016,” the spokesman said. “The fifth, which is on option, is expected in May 2017.”

Ok, I thought that they were delivered to RAM after modifcations. That's at least more than 1 year that those 2 planes seems to don't have any works.

Nope, RAM rejected these frames. Not only RAM. ANA and LAN rejected early frames too.
