Expand flight line from 7 to 16 stalls... add over 3 million sq ft of production space... add over 400,000 sq ft of office space.

NICE!
They forget about 2nd Matt Cawby. Big 787 plant without Matt Cawby isn't really great plant.

Well they did say that a paint facility is being or going to be built there so they dont have to fly their planes to Texas to be painted. I wonder if CHS is becoming the new Paine Field for Boeing. More office spaces and more possible production along with a new refurbish runway and a paint facility. I guess South Carolina is more than a success story for Boeing so far. I cant see the article. Can somebody set up an actual link to the story and the map please.

Paint facility is first, but quite a nice expansion.

Why do the UEA government does not change the design on these new aircrafts? I find it a bit plain on the 787.

We don't know, they leased this one through ILFC and there's no further information on this deal.

btw,
All things 787 has LN149 now listed as a BBJ for the Saudi Ministry of Finance with RR engines. This will be the 1st delivery to a customer that is actually listed as a BBJ customer on Boeing's order book. There are 2 more direct BBJ orders for the 787-8 which both will have GE engines, this will probably be the LN5 and LN6 that are now undergoing rework in respectively the EMC and in San Antonio, TX.

This also means that Boeing has not yet found a customer for the RR powered LN4, which is still used by Boeing for test fights for different kind of certifications etc.

or it is under one of 3 unidentified 788 orders. I don't think Boeing will start re-work of LN4 before LN6 will be back completed from San Antonio. EMC is now in slow time, after roll out of VT-ANC we won't see any other ready frame from EMC till june/july 2014 (LN11 ZA800).

There are only 2 unidentified orders, and the one for just 1 787-8 will be GE powered. It's possible that the LN4 will be re-engined, but that wouldn't be the most logical option. The LN149 shows that Boeing is also selling newly build 787 to direct BBJ customers.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to Visit New Zealand in International Debut

Dec. 31, 2013, SYDNEY, Australia, – Boeing [NYSE: BA] plans to bring the 787-9 Dreamliner to Auckland in early January to visit launch customer Air New Zealand. The trip, which is contingent on weather and other test factors, would mark the international debut of the 787-9, the second and newest member of the super-efficient 787 family.

“Boeing is proud to bring the 787-9 to Auckland to show Air New Zealand what the team has achieved,” said Mark Jenks, vice president, 787 Development, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “With more than 150 flights since testing began in September, the test fleet continues to perform very well, and we look forward to delivering the first 787-9 in mid-2014 as promised.”

“Having one of Air New Zealand’s 787-9s touch down on Kiwi soil for the first time is hugely exciting,” said Christopher Luxon, chief executive officer, Air New Zealand. “It’s a real reminder that we will soon welcome the first of these more modern, fuel-efficient airplanes into our fleet.”

The aircraft, ZB002, is the second of three 787-9s dedicated to the test program. As the only 787-9 test aircraft to be fitted with elements of the passenger interior, in addition to test racks and instrumentation, Boeing uses ZB002 to test the environmental control system and other aspects of aircraft performance. After the test program is complete, the aircraft will be reconfigured for delivery to Air New Zealand.

During the Auckland visit, media will have the opportunity to tour the aircraft and speak with Boeing pilots and test personnel. (Media advisory to follow.) No general public tour opportunities will be available.

From Auckland, ZB002 is scheduled to continue on to Alice Springs, Australia, where Boeing plans to conduct flight testing in hot weather. Boeing chose Alice Springs Airport for this testing because the location meets specific test requirements for both facilities and atmospheric conditions. Testing is contingent on favorable weather and is scheduled to last approximately one week.

The 787-9 will complement and extend the 787 family. With the fuselage stretched by 6 metres (20 feet) over the 787-8, the 787-9 will fly up to 40 more passengers an additional 555 kilometres (300 nautical miles) with the same exceptional environmental performance — 20 percent less fuel use and 20 percent fewer emissions than similarly sized aircraft. The 787-9 leverages the visionary design of the 787-8, offering passengers features such as large windows, large stow bins, modern LED lighting, higher humidity, a lower cabin altitude, cleaner air and a smoother ride.

Boeing is on track to deliver the 787-9 to launch customer Air New Zealand in mid-2014. Twenty-six customers from around the world have ordered 402 787-9s, approximately 39 percent of all 787 orders.

LN28 ZA232 VT-ANC finally on the flightline, change-incorporation/re-work complete. That makes only 1 frame from "early build" set (LN20-29) to complete re-work. I think LN22 ZA803 is now inside EMC, and will be completed around July/August 2014. Transaero probably will take delivery of 3 frames this year:
LN11 ZA800 (should be rolled out from EMC June/July)
LN14 ZA802 (September/October)
LN22 ZA803 (July/August)
It looks like LN5 ZA005 is inside EMC since November 2013 and could be completed around early December 2014. That make 4th frame to be re-worked and completed in 2014. Next ones in 2015.

VT-ANC on the flightline:
