Kenya Airways will send its 1st dreamliner to Paris, Dar and Mombasa. I guess that the aircraft will aslo deployed to Harare, Lusaka, Johannesburg, Kigali or Entebbe, for crew training or promotional tour.

It's old photo, 787s aren't stored anymore on the kilo south. 8 planes are stored on the RWY 11-29 and they should be gone in 2 years.

Next delivery this month is LN143 ZA586 N28MS.
https://twitter.com/mattcawby/status/429313521919086592
So probably only 4 deliveries in January. Ureshs updated chart, and LN18 is back to storage, LN22 ZA803 for Transaero was moved to storage on RWY 11-29 too. They probably has done what they could outside, and there is no space inside EMC now. LN28 ZA233 VT-ANC is back inside, and LN146 ZB197 JA872A 1st 789 for ANA is still inside. I wonder what is going on with this frame.

There could be contractual deliveries for 1 or 2 for ANA, there was another C-flight with the LN147 ZA124 this morning. This could also be possible for the Saudi BBJ, LN149.

The 2 for ANA and the BBJ were the only 787-8s that rolled out of assembly in December. When those are delivered either today or early February all the 787s (minus the LN25) left on the flight line in Everett rolled out this month.

Even Charleston is not that far behind with deliveries, there are 2 for Qatar that are being held up for some reason. The next one is the 1 for ANA that is now in paint in Forth Worth, since they already have 2 ready to be delivered from Everett it's not that strange that they haven't rushed it. The 3 others on the Charleston flight line also rolled out in January. And with 2 of those going to Qatar it's now unclear when they will be delivered. The other one that will go to United should move quicker and could be delivered in February, I expect it's 1st flight very soon.

All in all the slow production in December is pretty much the reason for the low delivery number this month. February will be far more interesting. With 10 roll outs in January the deliveries should be going up significantly. It has to be 10+ to keep up with the current production rate. Hopefully Qatar won't be too big a problem, otherwise Charleston will have as many of those on the flight line as they had Chinese ones when they were holding up deliveries.

yep, 3 contractual deliveries are possible.

ZA471 is scheduled for B1 today, so Boeing will probably deliver ZA469 in February, and send ZA470 to FTW for paint after JA828A will back to CHS. So CHS may deliver 3 frames in February and 7-8 should fly to customers from PAE.
------
N28MS delivery flight to... KMWH! They really try to hide customer of this plane, but it should fly for cabin outfitting soon.
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N...330Z/KPAE/KMWH

LN26 ZA231 VT-ANB delivery flight. Glad to see this frame finally flying off to customer. So one of 7 or 8 re-worked frames for delivery this year delivered. VT-ANA should follow this month, with VT-ANC in March/April. Later we won't see any delievery of early frame till 2nd half of this year (in July at the earliest).

From last weekend's San Francisco International Airport Terminal 3E opening, a Japan Airlines B787-8 (reg. JA829J) arrived at SFO on schedule, catching the last rays of the sun as it headed to its gate at International Terminal A.

LN152 ZA188 JA831J for JAL was painted.

source: https://twitter.com/mattcawby/status/429746966914809856 http://kpae.blogspot.com/

Ureshs changed status of LN6 to "stored" in San Antonio, but it looks like he doesn't know anything more. I wonder what is going on, maybe it completed re-work and is waiting for cabin outfitting slot or maybe just for customer to buy this frame. Few days ago B788 flight plan from KSKF to KCHS popped out in flightaware, but disappeared few hours later.
---
JAL finally flies LN125 ZA187 JA833J (from CHS) at their connections.

LN138 ZA480 A7-BCI for Qatar will be painted in PDX. It is like I thought, Boeing will paint Qatar's frames from CHS in PDX, when other planes will be painted in FTW.

Congratulations TG
One thing I'll never understand would be their unusual fleet choices. From what I see politicians have played a big role considering the vast amount of sub types; B734, B738, A320, A300-600, A333, A345, A346, B772ER. B773, B77W, B744, A380, & now B788. Any plans to simplify such a complex fleet??? (I know the A345 fleet is currently in storage)

And the next 787 for Qatar is also out on a B-1 flight today.

LN144 ZA471 A7-BCJ
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE471

We could end up with 3 deliveries to Qatar this month. Although if they still have to be send to Victorville, California to have the IFE installed by Thales they won't all be delivered at the same time.

I also wonder if there's some connection with the 777X order, for which Qatar, Emirates and Boeing are still in negotiation to finalize. The issues with the paint might have given Qatar a better position to get a better deal, even holding up deliveries until the deal is signed which should be very soon. The firming up of Qatar's remaining 787 options could also happen at the same time. That would be a welcome order boost for the 787 already at the start of the new year. We'll see what happens.

And I think they can squeeze delivery of LN145 ZA294 N26910 for United. FTW paint hangar is free, so they can do B1 in few days, paint it and deliver before end of month.
12-13 deliveries are possible.

I would say, first of all, congratulations to Thai Airways for selecting the Dreamliner as one of its long-haul aircraft (along with its existing suite of wide-body aircraft in service). And by the way, TG has never used a B738; it uses the B734 and recently got the A320.

And yes, as a government-owned airline, Thai Airways' fleet may indeed be influenced by politicians who want a stake on the airline, especially that it purchased the A380 (usually, large orders of such aircraft would require public support as well on top of private financing) a few years back. If it were me, I can simplify the complex fleet to the following:

- Airbus A330-300 (basic aircraft for regional flights)
- Airbus A340-600 (for long-haul flights)
- Airbus A380 (for long-haul, premium flights)
- Boeing 777-200ER (for regional flights)
- Boeing 777-300ER (for long-haul flights)
- Boeing 787-8 (for regional, long-haul flights)

It needs to let go of the A300, A345, B734, and B744, while Thai Smile can keep the A320 for short-haul journeys.

And by the way, Airline Route has posted that Thai Airways has proposed B787 operations starting 1 July 2014 on two routes:

Bangkok - Perth:
TG483 BKK2359 - 0745+1PER 787 D
TG484 PER0915 - 1515BKK 787 D

Bangkok - Tokyo/Haneda: (starting 1 August 2013)
TG682 BKK2245 - 0655+1HND 787 D
TG683 HND1035 - 1505BKK 787 D

TG682/683 will be the new, 2nd daily service operating between Bangkok and Tokyo's Haneda Airport, operating from 30 March 2014. Prior to 1 August, this flight will be operated by either an A330 or B747.
