It seems Transaero Airlines will not take the early 787s anymore.

Quote:
Russia’s Transaero Airlines opted out of an order for four of the jets in December, three people said, while Indonesia’s PT Lion Mentari Airlines said in January it was switching to Boeing 737s instead of taking five Dreamliners. The sales push also includes two 787s for which RwandAir signed a letter of intent in 2012 and for which no firm agreement has been reached, one person said.

It's really surprising, they proudly announced order year ago. LN11 and LN14 are still undergoing re-work, but this could be reason why LN22 was moved to storage again. We have to wait for official announcement and order update from Boeing.

Maybe Turkish Airlines could buy some to operate or open up those really long routes that the 787 can perform better than other planes. I.E to SFO or to South America or to Sydney.

And also RwandAir, no B787 until 2017. Brand new B787 ?? I know they were also in talk with Airbus 4 years ago, they were interested by the A320 / A330 and even ATR.

But talks with Airbus ATR have failed due to bad diplomatic relations with France, about the Genocide in Rwanda.

The airline planned to start service to Europe and China in 2015, either plans are put on hold or the airline will lease a long haul aircraft.

I am surprised there are enough links between Finland and Japan to warrant such a long flight.

Actually the NRT-HEL-NRT route is on of the shortest Asia to Europe routes that are flown today. It is shorter then the NRT-LHR-NRT route by over 1100 miles. Plus its a one world hub to hub route. So each airline is helping the route on each side.

Actually, that's just one of multiple Finland-Japan flights... Finnair also operates frequent services to Tokyo and Osaka (I recall it also operated to Nagoya, but now discontinued). And Japan Airlines operating that flight seems to be no surprise for me since it operates as a "reciprocal" service to Finnair's service from HEL. Their schedules:

AY073 HEL1720 - 1005+1NRT 330 D
JL414 HEL1725 - 1010+1NRT 787 D

JL413 NRT1130 - 1500HEL 787 D
AY074 NRT1200 - 1520HEL 330 D

AY077 HEL1725 - 0955+1 KIX 330 x36
AY078 KIX1150 - 1510HEL 330 x47

Interesting. I didn't know RwandAir ditched the announced acquisition of two early frames. They've either put their expansion program on hold or are convinced the earlier frames aren't good enough. If they're going to wait till 2017, then at least most of the production kinks will be solved by then.

LN144 ZA471 A7-BCJ for Qatar painted. Leaves PDX for CHS. LN150 ZA472 A7-BCM should be ferried from CHS to PDX for paint in few days.
I think Qatar will take 2 787s this month (ZA469 and ZA470) and two in March (ZA471 and ZA472).

I checked and it's indeed not as long as I thought. I was going over the North Pole in my mind. Indeed it's one of the shortest Tokyo-Europe routes.

I think so, but some month ago, the CEO was not very worry.

Quote:
“We are concerned as an airline operator about the safety reports but ours Dreamliners were not to be delivered till 2015, which gives us sufficient time to learn from others,” John Mirenge, the hief executive officer of RwandAir, told Rwanda Today.
http://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/Rwan...z/-/index.html

Rwanda issued its first eurobond to help RwandAir, but also to put moner in others projects in Rwanda. I think that they have money,

However, they have an option for two more CRJ-900NGs, i guess that they will confirm the order , to add more destinations in Africa. Cape Town, Sudan, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Zanzibar and Ivory Coast are among futures destinations, they currently serve 15 destinations
