Did we still have to be scared if we had to fly in the dreamliner soon ?

There was never any reason to be afraid of the dreamliner...

Some of the early frames had some issues such as battery problems, but almost all civil airliners have some type of issue or another in the early service life.

^Oh dear, they're sticking with the inward facing herringbone arrangement in 'Upper' class. I experienced that on LHR-JFK-LHR a couple of years back. Never again! FWIW, I found the food very disappointing, too!

I cringe every time I see the 3-3-3 configuration for Coach class. I was so impressed with ANA's 2-4-2 configuration in pictures that I assumed that "dream" configuration would extend to all other airlines. Since I haven't flown on the 787 yet maybe it's not as bad as I imagine it to be, 3-3-3.

Even ANA has decided to go 3-3-3, even on their long haul 787s. The only airline that remains 2-4-2 is JAL, the rest is all 9 abreast.

LN218 ZB027 G-VNEW 1st 789 for Virgin Atlantic Airways was rolled out from the FAL and moved to the outside position of the EMC. As you can see, without engines. It's probably as I predicted few weeks ago - RR has problem with delivering Trent-1000 Package C engines on time. Sat antenna for onboard Wi-Fi is visible too.

Engines are being removed from LN133 ZB002 N789FT. This plane will be undergoing change incorporation/re-work and will be delivered for Air New Zealand as ZK-NZD sometime next year. Maybe they will install these engines on the frame for Virgin?

Boeing delivered their 2nd 787-9, the 1st one for ANA.

Boeing Delivers ANA's First 787-9 Dreamliner

EVERETT, Wash., July 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE:BA) and All Nippon Airways (ANA) today celebrated the delivery of the airline's first 787-9 Dreamliner.

ANA will become the world's first airline to operate both the 787-8 and 787-9 variants of the Dreamliner family when the airline launches 787-9 services on domestic Japanese routes in August.

"The 787 Dreamliner is a key element in our growth strategy and we are proud to be the first airline to fly both models of the 787 family," said Osamu Shinobe, ANA president and CEO. "The new 787-9 will build on the exceptional efficiency of the 787-8 and will allow us to meet growing demand that is anticipated ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Our customers have expressed their pleasure with the comfort of the 787's innovative cabin features and we are excited to introduce the new 787 variant into our fleet."

With this delivery, ANA will have 29 787s in its fleet, more than any other operator in the world.

"This milestone delivery adds yet another chapter in our long and successful relationship with ANA," said John Wojick, senior vice president of Global Sales and Marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "ANA continues to demonstrate the market-leading efficiency and comfort of the 787 family."
http://boeing.mediaroom.com/2014-07-...7-9-Dreamliner

Air New Zealand and ANA are now kind of in a competition to see who will start commercial revenue service with the 787-9 first. Air New Zealand has their 787-9 for about a month already, but they have used it for test and instruction flights. But as ANA already has 787-8 it's easier for them to introduce the 787-9. Both airlines have stated that they will be the 1st, we'll know who won this duel when the 1st flight is in the air.
