LN14 inside the EMC. Heavy work on the wings, still no sight of engines. Interior is mess too. I don't think that plane will be finished earlier than 2-3 months from now.

Also looking at the upcoming production slots in Charleston you can't really deny that they aren't getting the easy customers + Air India.

The 1st actual 1st delivery for an airline which was also actually built in Charleston is also still upcoming, that will be LN340 for Oman Air. That will be after Everett made about 30 1st deliveries.

And I didn't claim that the lack of a paint shop in Charleston is an advantage. I just said that because they have to fly to be painted that the 1st flight is scheduled earlier after roll-out then in Everett.

I'm describing the Charleston plant that was wetlands and forest until late 2011 when the plant opened...

The rate increases didn't quite go as expected because Boeing let go hundreds of contract workers just before the increase took effect, and just as the fuselage sections for the -9 were added to the production schedule. I've seen the production schedule and don't see how it's classified as "easy"?

What do you consider the 787 delivered to Hainan?? It was the 1st delivery of a 787 to that airline, and it was built in Charleston.

You can try and make Charleston look bad all you want, but Charleston went from a patch of dirt to delivering planes in 2 1/2 years. What more do you want??

Okay, then Charleston had 1 proper 1st delivery, that doesn't change the fact that Everett has been doing all other 1st deliveries.

And with easy I mean deliveries to airlines like TUI Fly, that are just 1 B-flight and 1 C-flight quick deliveries. Let's be honest, at one point Charleston was building planes only to be stored because the airlines didn't want to take delivery yet. That can't have been good for the work morale on the floor.

It's all relative of course, the 787 program has not been easy for all companies and production locations involved. I don't say these things to make Charleston look bad. The only ones that should be blamed are the higher ups at Boeing. They sure have overestimated starting up a completely new production line in a new location. That's already difficult enough for relatively simple program, let alone the troublesome 787. And with the upcoming production increases all coming from Charleston, it's a good decision that they use the overcapacity at Everett to deal with all the bullshit.

I'll agree with most of that. We just get tired down here of being portrayed as a bunch of dumbasses, mainly by production workers from Everett and their friends in the Washington area media. Considering how far the plant here has come in such a short amount of time, I think it's pretty amazing. I don't work at the plant or for any supplier either, but several folks who do live in my neighborhood.

I'm pretty impressed with Charleston progress. They are able to build 3 frames per month now and fly them nearly after roll out. This is very good forecast for future production pace increases, that wasn't so certain few months ago.

LN194 ZA695 JY-BAA delivery flight. Royal Jordanian Airlines is officially a next operator of 787-8.

A new week, another cancellation.

Last 5 orders were cancelled, this week it's 4 787s.

As last week was probably Lion Air this new cancellation looks like it's Transaero. Both where interested to take the terrible teens, but had already shown that they might not be too interested anymore. Next week we'll know for sure who is behind the cancellations.

LN6 ZA006 XC-MEX will fly today to KARA for painting.
I wonder, will they ferry it to KPAE for customer testing or maybe deliver it from KSKF as Boeing Defense delivery?

Jon Ostrower from the Wall Street Journal confirms that Transaero and Lion Air are behind the recent cancellations.

"Transaero and Lion Air say 'no thanks' to earliest Dreamliners"
https://twitter.com/jonostrower/stat...87133646139392

"Boeing Struggles to Find Buyers for Early Version Dreamliners"
http://online.wsj.com/articles/boein...ers-1409347948

Google the title to read the full article.

The article also mentions that LAN will still take the 2 that they initially refused. That still leaves 8 to be sold, Boeing will probably focus their sales pitch on existing operators and VIP customers. Maybe LAN or ANA will take some more if they get a good deal for them.

The 1st 787-9 for Virgin Atlantic rolled out of paint.

Yeah, as opposed to their "4 Engines 4 Long-Haul" campaign it had with their A340 aircraft... but, hey, VS on a B787-9 looks fabulous indeed.
