The new Avianca livery is growing on me! Looks good on the Dreamliner.

The AA livery on the 787 looks kind of squished together ..... It would look a lot better on a 787-9.

Al Jazeera English pulled the follow up programing on the 787 documentary, they stated that it already created enough publicity but in reality they probably didn't expect to get so much criticism from a broad range of aviation journalist and analysts.

In the end of the day this whole story has ended up as bad publicity for both Boeing and Al Jazeera English, there are no winners.

Not to sound negative but ..... when i see charts for the 787 or 747-8i vs a380. Its hard to tell whats actually the truth about which plane is more fuel efficient or which plane has lower cost per mile.

The chart does look good for the 787 family though.

As for Al Jazeera ..... I am pretty sure everyone here thought the samething about the video. It was total BS.

Yeah those charts don't hold too much truth...

The only people who know the true economics of these planes are the operators.

How on earth does the author of this chart even have a clue how A350 will perform since it hasn't even entered service yet!

I suspect that whoever made this chart has an agenda, because there is not a chance that the A350 will be that much less economical than the B787.

You just have to write the small print to know who made this chart and whats their agenda. It's also not like Airbus doesn't compare their products with Boeing planes that haven't flown yet, that's pretty standard business in aviation done by all manufactures.

You also have to keep in mind that it's chart where the costs are compared to the 767-300ER. Compared to the 767 the 787-9 and the A350-900 have similar seat-mile costs, that's probably fair. But compared to the 767 it's only logical that the A350-900 is less economic because it's bigger therefor heavier and more expensive to buy.

In other words, the chart only says that the 787 is the best plane to replace the 767-300ER if you want to replace them with similar sized planes.

Now the A330neo has also sneaked into this chart. Airbus will say it will have lower trip costs because it will have similar fuel burn to the 787 but it will have a lower list price. Boeing will say that the 787 will be lighter therefor still have a better fuel burn. The truth is somewhere in the middle. And because there are also other reasons for airlines to buy a specific type of plane you will see will orders for both types.

787 isn't lighter, it's almost exactly the same weight as a similar A330.

A330-200 = 119,600 kg
787-8 = 118,000 kg

Whoops, I didn't catch the print where it said Boeing...

I don't have anything against either Boeing or Airbus. They are both guilt of predicting poor performance for each other's models. I thought that this graph was made by a journalist...

The Y axis of the graph shows the cost per Air Seat Mile. Even though I don't know the true economics of the 787 vs A350, I would be extremely surprised if the A350 doesn't have lower ASM costs than the 787 because the A350 is larger and newer.

Actually a new PTQ video of 787-9 for Virgin Atlantic Airways! It's surge line and again Boeing hid re-work process and nicely pasted interrior installation during stay inside the EMC:
