Do you have any idea what difference 1,600 Kg (3,527 lbs) does to the performance of an aircraft?
I think both Boeing & Airbus fans are making a case for their favs without being fully informed. We have to wait till Airbus releases both the A350 -8 & -9 models in to the market and then compare them with the Dreamliner versions after a year or two in operation. That is still a few years away knowing that both brands utilize different engine manufacturers.

publicly .... i doubt we see the real statistics on any of these planes. Like the chart above from Boeing. Who knows if thats true or not. Like we said, most likely bias.

I like boeing a lot, I would want to see real stats for the 787 vs a350 and then a380 vs the 747-8i

THe A330-200 is larger than the 787-8 and fits more people.

The A350 will be released for commercial service in December; the A350-900 is almost as big as the 787-1000 so, we can't really compare them to the 787-9. They are all similar--but not quite.

She flew to KCHS, so it is possible that we won't see her before delivery. Maybe Boeing will share some photos.

Here are some pics I took of the Mexican AF plane and sent to Uresh. I was driving my car while I took them with my phone, so please excuse the quality.

So that livery. I'm pretty glad to see her ready for customer flights and delivery. Maybe we will see official photos from delivery ceremony.

Airberlin cancelled their order for 15 787-8s (and 18 737s) after earlier rumors that they would convert their order to the 787-9. The airline has financial troubles and have reduced their growth plans.

Quote:
Further fleet harmonization: airberlin reaches agreement with Boeing on cancellation of 33 aircraft

airberlin has reached an agreement with Boeing that orders for 18 Boeing 737 and 15 Boeing 787 aircraft at a price of currently some 5 billion USD be rescinded. The termination agreement for these 33 aircraft does not include any compensation to Boeing from airberlin group, and represents a further important step in the gradual harmonisation of the airline's narrow-body fleet.

Ulf Hüttmeyer, Chief Financial Officer at airberlin, said: "Not taking on the 33 aircraft ordered will significantly reduce future capital expenditure for airberlin and improve our balance sheet".

"Our collaboration with Boeing has always been excellent, and this will remain so. 45 Boeing 737 NG aircraft will remain in service on European short and medium-haul routes. In order to operate more flexibly in the future and further reduce costs, standardisation of our fleet is a key element of our restructuring", Ulf Hüttmeyer continues.

The transition to a uniform narrow-body fleet should be completed by the end of 2016.

airberlin group will continue to dynamically adapt the existing fleet to its needs by purchasing or leasing suitable aircraft, although this will be on a smaller scale than originally planned. Already, airberlin is well positioned, with one of the youngest fleets in Europe.
http://www.airberlingroup.com/en/pre...of-33-aircraft

Interestingly enough they could cancel the orders without any financial penalties from Boeing. Of course this cancellation creates open early delivery slots for the 787 and 737 which are very easy to sell. And with Etihad being a big share holder in Air Berlin and also a major Boeing customer for the 787 and 777X they might also have pulled some weight in this.

It's also possible that we will still see the 787 in their fleet in the future, they could be sourced from the large Etihad order or from leasing companies. They already had a lease deal for several 787-8s with ILFC, but the status of that deal is unclear. We do know that they won't get the 787-8s from AerCap (they took over ILFC), there could still be a deal for the 787-9 in place.

LN3 ZA003 N787BX in the air again, after 3 years of storage. She will be ferried to KBFI and later moved to Museum of Flight in November. Maybe they will repaint her?
