Then Avianca has a big problem, as they won't be able to take delivery of the 787s at all, ever.

The FAA will not certify non existing seats, so if Avianca is actually waiting for certification of seats that are not used on their 787s or any other plane in their fleet they can wait an eternity.

All we know is that the reason for the delay are "procedures" on Avianca's side which have nothing to do with performance of the 787 itself. They are also defering deliveries of new A330s as well, so it looks like the airline has some issues with financing or something similar.

So, I just saw on Airline Route that a new operator of the B787 is coming up soon... and I wonder what will be its initial aircraft LN?

Vietnam Airlines has outlined its Boeing 787 service to London Gatwick starting 1 July 2015. Additional routes seeing the Dreamliner will be made in the next few weeks. Details and schedules:

Ho Chi Minh – London Gatwick: from 1 July 2015
VN051 SGN0030 – 0740LGW 787 36
VN050 LGW1310 – 0720+1SGN 787 36

Hanoi – London Gatwick: from 3 July 2015
VN055 HAN0030 – 0720LGW 787 257
VN054 LGW1310 – 0650+1HAN 787 257

VN will add 3rd weekly frequency on this route, coinciding with 787 introduction. The 3rd weekly flight operates from 3 July to 14 September 2015.

3 year flightline comparison. You can notice few atractions like JAL's 788 JA822J in old livery (right after return from refurbishment in San Antionio). Many of these early frames are still in PAE:

All terrible teens will be sold.
LN6 ZA006 XC-MEX (6th test frame, former N787ZA) was delivered to BBJ/Fuerza Aιrea Mexicana in October this year.
LN11 ZA841 (former ZA500 JA804A for ANA) will be delivered to Korean Air as VIP plane, for Korean Government. Delivery date - late December. Frame finished re-work/change-incorporation and is undergoing repaint now.

3 will be delivered next year:
LN14 should be completed in February 2015
LN22 in June or July 2015
LN12 in late 2015, probably November or December.

Next 5 will be delivered in 2016:
LN13
LN15
LN17
LN18
LN19

For 2017:
LN10 ZA534 for LAN
LN16 ZA535 for LAN
LN5 ZA005 (test frame) probably as VIP aircraft

Last frame, 4th test frame (LN4 ZA004 N7874) should be delivered in first half of 2018
------

LAN took delivery of LN234 ZA545 CC-BBJ today. It is 11th 788 for LAN (half of order is now fulfilled). Next ones will be 789, there aren't any 788s scheduled to be delivered before 2016.

I think the 787 which were ordered by RAM are 12, 22 and 17, 19

Thus, cause the delivery of the 1st ones is not far perhaps one know the destination ? For special vip use or to an airline?

Concerning 17 & 19 yep of it may be too early of course..

LN17 and LN19 were destined for RAM, but they were rejected and will be delivered to different customer.
LN22 and other terrible teens (excluding LN10 and LN16 for LAN) are former ANA's frames.

10 frames awaiting a 2nd lifeline
Hopefully a carrier comes along and puts $$$ on the table considering they'd be heavily discounted

yeah i would assume they are heavily discounted. If i were an airline I would take a shot at one of those frames.

Why: I am sure the frames are heavier then intended and they wouldnt get the same great fuel burn BUT

You get a cheap, high advanced airplane that still has fuel efficient engines and other technologies to help save fuel. Also paying customers wont know the difference a refurbished 787 and a normal 787.

These frames were rejected for main reason - time.
Boeing pushed airlines for delaying delivery, because they have next 53 frames which needed re-work. LN8 and LN9 was used in certification process and were re-worked and modified during testing process. LN7 started re-work in 2010 and they had much trouble to make it ready for delivery.

In normal situation, first production block need few months of re-work and next blocks are on certification spec straight from FAL. But Boeing ****ed up designing and building Dreamliner. In late 2011, when FAA certified 787 they already produced 40 production frames with next 20 still require few weeks of re-work. So they started work on later frames to speed up process and delivery as many frames as it was possible. If they has started re-work of terrible teens then, EMC could be blocked for over 2 years. Instead of delivery 47 frames, they could delivery around 10-13...

And later on the EMC was also used for the battery fix in early 2013 and other production issues. This has slowed down the modification works on the early teens significantly. Also because the EMC has also been used for the first 787-9s and the 767 Tanker prototypes.

This totally messed up the rework schedule again, which most likely resulted in the cancellations of the Lion Air and the Transaero orders for 9 of the terrible teens.

Now there are several rumored customers. TUI Travel is one of them, they placed a follow up order for 2 787-8s in October 2013 which is supposed to be for 2 of these terrible teens. LOT also has 2 outstanding orders and are also linked to these teens. Furthermore there are still 2 outstanding 787-8 orders for Business Jet / VIP Customers, it's not unlikely that these will be LN4 & LN5. And lastly there still the MoU from Rwandair for 2 787-8s, they have been linked with LN17 & LN19, the former RAM birds.

If all these turn out to be reality there will be just 2 more to sell for Boeing, if they won't keep 1 or 2 for test flights.

Do you think that AA would consider taking the early built 787 to phase out 767 faster ... Converting some options?
