So today I was on a VIP tour on the factory floor inside PAE.

British Airways 1st of 16 787-9's is together and should be rolling out within the next 2 weeks for a Sept delivery. I was told by a person with first hand knowledge, they are going to be delivering all 16 frames within a 12 month timeframe starting this Sept.

LAN's CC-BGE is ready to roll out.

British G-ZBKA was behind it.

Any other new customers getting 787s before the end of 2015?

This is not 100% related to the 787.

But i have a model of the 787-8 and the A330-200. The body of the 787 is widder than the one of A330. Can this be correct? Both have a 2-4-2 seating. I am a little bit confused.

Yes, the 787's fuselage is wider, because it is designed for 9 abreast seating in economy class, while the A330 (like the A300, A310 and A340) is designed for 8 abreast seating in economy.

Thus, if comparing a 787 and A330 both with 2-4-2 seating, probably that the 787 has wider seats and more shoulder room than the A330.

USAToday reports that the American luxury cruise line "Crystal Cruises" is buying single 787.

Quote:
The airplane that Crystal plans to acquire will be a Boeing 787 configured to hold just 60 passengers in sumptuous, fully reclining seats instead of the 300 that is typical. It'll be used to offer extravagant, around-the-world trips as part of a new brand extension to be called Crystal Luxury Air. The 28-day itineraries will feature stops in 10 to 12 remote and/or sought-after locales, with accommodations at some of the world's finest hotels and resorts, Rodriguez says.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/cruise...lane/30379447/

This could already be 1 of the BBJ orders, or a future one, maybe for 1 of the teens.

Originally announced by Crystal Cruises on their blog.

Correct. But they are taking the initial batch of 16 in 12 months. The rest will follow on later down the line and may get converted to -10's per the airline rep.

Austin Cheng, president of EVA Airways, Taiwan's second-largest carrier, says: EVA Airways plans to buy 24 to 26 Boeing 787 jets for around $65 billion at listed price, with delivery slated for 2018 to 2019.

Emirates has the A332 and the B772 for that role. They might be interested in the B787 (or the A330neo) when those planes need to be replaced.

It's indeed a strange number, if it's US Dollars it will be too expensive. If the numbers are Taiwanese Dollars the planes will actually be dead cheap at around 83 million US dollars. The list price of a 787-10 is 300 million US dollars.

EVA said that they would like some more discounts, but they won't get that much of course.

Previously they have always stated that the 787 was too small for their needs.

But recently they have shown interest in the 787-10 for their regional routes. They are currently in negotiations with Boeing and Airbus for a large order for the 787-10 or the A350-900. This potentially very large order is expected to be announced at the Dubai Airshow this November.

Earlier it was already reported in some media that Boeing had won the order. But that was directly countered by Emirates by criticizing the thrust of the 787-10 in hot conditions. It could still go both ways, it's very possible that we will see the 787 in the Emirates fleets.
