The First B787-10 is LN 528 ZC 001 currently till LN 376 are in FAL at CHS and PAE and from LN 377 to LN 383 are parts arriving. wikipedia >> ''On May 30, 2013, Singapore Airlines stated it would order 30 of the 787-10, provided Boeing launches the program. The airline is to be the -10 launch customer and is to receive the aircraft in 2018–2019'' so I think in 2017 the first B787-10 will go into production and delivery in 2018.wikipedia >> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_787_Dreamliner B787 spreed sheet >> link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FH3Y2-vRUgojntPkCSJI5Pd-15rsJ1a0SFCRaT-iqgo/pub?single=true&gid=2&output=html

Boeing has always said that they will start assembly on the 787-10 in 2017, with an EIS in 2018.

Earlier this year it was reported in the media that Boeing is ahead of schedule in design phase of the 787-10. Together with the currently assigned production slots (which are flexible) it could also be late 2016 instead of early 2017. Boeing will stay with the 2017 start of assembly date pretty much until in goes into assembly.

But this all means that by this time next year the subcontractors building all the parts will now be busy making the 1st parts which are specific to the 787-10. But as it going to be very similar to the 787-9 that will mainly be the longer fuselage sections. It will have the same wings and horizontal stabilizers for example.

The last I heard, they've just about completed the final design review for the 787-10. That will probably lead the assembly of the first parts for ZC001, the first 787-10 assembled, some time in the latter half of 2016. I think if Boeing can offer a higher MTOW version of the 787-10 with more fuel capacity (which could increase the range to circa 7,000 nautical miles), this could make it very attractive as a 777-200ER replacement.

Air France are to can their 787 order. They are downsizing their long haul fleet in view of losses, particularly to the Gulf carriers and Turkish.

http://atwonline.com/finance-data/ai...and-2900-staff

Quote:
“This adjustment will mainly be made via the accelerated retirement of Airbus A340s, which will not be replaced by Boeing 787s as had been initially planned,” Air France-KLM said in an update released on Oct. 5.

The schedule modifications will focus on routes where losses are highest, serving principally Asia and the Middle East. The impact on the commercial footprint of the group will be minimal thanks to, among other, the numerous partnerships in the relevant markets,” it said.
The workers went nuts, attacking 2 managers today, details here.

Boeings factory in SC was not affected directly by the floods there in the past few days. Only possible glitch is with any components that usually come by rail. The nearby BMW factory is badly affected by these railway issues and if you ordered a new X series for January delivery then you might have a problem.

These photos are 2 years old and were posted here. N789EX is already in commercial service as ZK-NZC in Air New Zealand.

We will see if this in fact holds up. Rumors are AF are going to cancel their 787 orders.

There won't be a cancellation of the Air France - KLM 787 order. What is likely that most, if not all will go to KLM, who then won't take any A350s. Deliveries will be delayed of course, but that's not an issue for anyone. The recent conversion of 6 787-9s to the 787-10 for KLM was already sign that there would be a shuffle. The now failed talks between AF and the unions will only make accelerate the changes in the order, increase the delays. I don't think that AF-KLM is looking beyond 2022, we might still see the 787 in AFs fleet, but not any time soon.

It's likely that the LN500 will end up with KLM unless it's already sold to a different customer.
