Need another 10 famous Norwegians.

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSO9N15P02D

Norwegian are giving their ongoing US-EU flying rights discussion one more heave by dangling a 10 frame deal out there.

Seemingly the Carribean and Indian Ocean is looking particularly hot this winter as Egypt winter tourism diverts somewhere safe out of A321 range.

But Norwegian really want the right to fly those Irish-US routes in 2016.

FAA orders full engine swapouts on some 787s

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articl...-flight-damage

Seemingly some GE engines on 787s are particularly prone to icing so the FAA has ordered US carriers to partially re-engine 43 of their operational 787s in order that they have 2 different model engines by the end of August....the other model engine is not as prone to icing up is why.

Quote:
Airlines operating 787s with GE engines have 150 days to make sure that they have made repairs or have installed at least one older version of the GEnx engine on each plane so that they won’t risk losing power in both, the FAA said. The older GEnx model isn’t as susceptible to damage from icing.
Airlines must also instruct pilots within seven days how to prevent engine icing while flying above 12,500 feet. When pilots suspect ice may be forming, they have to momentarily add power to each engine once every five minutes, the FAA said.
This instruction could migrate to other countries with 787s in fairly short order....I dunno if 200 (or more) engines could be found fairly rapid worldwide which may result in groundings outside the US later this year. From what I can see the incident that triggered the Airworthiness Directive ( AD) did not involve a US regged 787 but an ANA one flying out of Vancouver to Toyko.

Quote:
GE said that “Work mandated by the AD is already well under way with more than 40 engines complete,” he said, referring to the FAA’s airworthiness directive.
Dunno if that is 40 new engines or 40 remediated engines (meaning a new other model one is not required). GE carefully avoided being clear in their statement.

There was a similar earlier issue, not sure if it the same engine.

So it means that almost every 4 days 1 B787 is being delivered to its new owner

IS LN5 not sold to some Presidente as a personal bizjet bus?

Only LN22 left out there really. You won't recognise the place...once GE re-engine per the AD that is.
