I hadn't noticed on the earlier video and pictures that it flew with a N registration and the Experimental sign above the front doors. I guess Boeing had to test something new that is specific to the LOT 787s.

Today there was also a first flight, it was LN77 N26906 for United.

Qatar's A7-BCL had it 2nd flight, their A7-BCA is just like a couple of days ago scheduled to make it's 1st flight in 30 minutes.
Now that would be really interesting to see in pictures. If only I live somewhere close to Everett or Charleston, then I could see those planes in person and drive my way to the airfield to see those graceful 787s fly.

Does that emergency power generator test mean that the aircraft is being tested for ETOPS?

The emergency power generator = RAT = Ram air turbine is always deployed on the first flight, it had nothing to do with ETOPS testing since it will only provide power for the controls and the cabin. It enables to let the plane make a controlled glide to the next airport and make it land. ETOPS has to do with single-engine flight times to the nearest diversion airport, it's not based on a complete loss of power.

You can see that they had to fly between the thunderstorms yesterday, but that's possible. It's the days with low clouds with a continuous drizzle and low visibility the most problematic to plan any 1st flights.

LN34, b-2725 China Southern was rolled out of the EMC. This will be their only 787 with their normal livery since it was already painted straight after it came from of the assembly line last year.

Again a 1st flight today, but this time in Charleston.

LN 60, VT-ANK for Air India.
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE239

There were 6 first flights in the last 10 days, this should result in a good number of deliveries in November. And there are still 8 frames that are ready for their 1st flights, there's enough work for the test pilots the next couple of weeks.

Due to popular demand another shot of the Hainan 787.

Behind the Airbridge Cargo 747 you can see the 2nd 787 for Hainan.

So the rework is nearing it's end. LN45, LN52, LN59, LN62 all has engines now, so their reworks are advanced too. Modification program is going very fast, next LN36 should go through EMC. Only few months and LN31-LN65 will be all completed.

Like both brand new aircraft at the same time, or separately? If it's both aircraft, then it's CZ indeed.

Ah ok. That works. If it's the first ever A380, it's SQ. If it's the first ever B787, it's JL.

Aspire Aviation has an interesting piece on the 787-10.

Launch of Boeing 787-10X has implications on 777X programme

Quote:
As Chicago-based plane-maker Boeing nears the authority to offer (ATO) milestone for its proposed 323-seat doubled-stretched 787-10X variant with a launch expected shortly thereafter, the ultra efficient medium-haul airplane is poised to propel the once-beleaguered 787 Dreamliner programme onto higher grounds and unlock the pent-up demand for the aircraft. However, a Boeing 787-10X launch may carry broader implications on another future widebody programme currently under evaluation, the revamped 777X that is due to enter into service by the end of this decade.

Aspire Aviation understands that Singapore Airlines (SIA) is currently negotiating with Boeing to be the launch customer of the 787-10X and a launch order could come as soon as this November, sources at Boeing and Singapore Airlines (SIA) confirmed.

The rationale behind being the 787-10X launch customer, the Singapore Airlines source says, is to replace the Airbus A330-300s in its fleet as they come off lease later this decade and enable intra-Asia growth to tap into the premium air travel demand of burgeoning economies in the Asia/Pacific region.

Meanwhile, International Airlines Group (IAG) unit British Airways (BA) is currently in advanced discussions with the world’s second-largest aircraft manufacturer for an order of up to 60 Boeing 787-10X Dreamliners dedicated for the use of BA, Aspire Aviation‘s multiple sources at Boeing revealed. British Airways (BA) will use the 787-10Xs to replace all of its 777-200ERs and the remainder to expand BA’s international network in Asia.
And much more info in the article.

This could mean that 2 big orders are just around the corner, although we should always be cautious with such articles. An order is only official when either the airline or manufacturer confirms it. Both airlines might also be talking to Airbus about their offerings, so it could still go the other way.

This Wednesday Boeing will report their third-quarter earnings with a conference for investors in Chicago. It's going to be interesting what kind of news they will have there on the 787 program. If they announce that the 787-10 got the authority to offer it's a clear indication that some orders are on the way.
