You are right Economy Plus is only introduced to LOT's 787.

By the way, here is the video tour of LOT's 787 at Kyiv.

Question: are there any operating 787s that have a First Class cabin product on board? And what are your prospects for 787 production next year: like, do you think there will be more orders for that aircraft from Asian, Middle Eastern, African, and European carriers, as well as United Airlines? Or will there be surprises?

It looks like China Southern will be the 1st airline that will have a First Class product in the 787. It will be 1 of the few airlines that will have it on 787-8, we might see it more on the 787-9.

For next year there's a big chance that the AA order will be firmed. And with the formal launch of the 787-10 there's a good chance for some bigger orders. There have been several candidates floating around on the internet as possible launch customers, Qatar, Singapore, Lufthansa Group, EVA. I think we can also expect some orders from the bigger leasing companies.

Furthermore we could see several smaller top-up orders that we also saw this year.

Ah very interesting. I wonder what their First Class product will look like: flat-bed seats or suites?

Merry Xmas to all! Should be interesting next year when the 787-10 comes about. I wonder if the first order will be from an existing 787 operator or a wholly new customer.

Aeromexico has firmed up their commitment for 6 787-9s.

Quote:
Boeing, Aeromexico Finalize 787 Dreamliner Order

SEATTLE, Dec. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Aeromexico finalized an order for six 787-9 Dreamliners, with reconfirmation rights for four additional Dreamliners. The order by Mexico's largest airline, which was first announced as a commitment in July, is valued at more than $1.46 billion at published list prices.

"The acquisition of these Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, part of the 100 aircraft announced earlier this year, represents a fundamental step that strengthens the international position and leadership of Grupo Aeromexico," said Andres Conesa, Aeromexico's CEO. "It also reaffirms the company's commitment to provide the best service to our clients, assuring they will be treated with the best crew and will fly with the best aircraft ever built."

"With this successful purchase, Grupo Aeromexico will have a total of 19 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in its fleet, whose first delivery is expected to be in the summer of 2013. The arrival of these aircraft will surely increase the added value of our assets and will also reinforce our operative structure, giving us the flexibility to continue growing," said Conesa.

"Aeromexico continues to show it is an aviation leader in Latin America and across the globe," said Van Rex Gallard, vice president of Sales for Latin America, Africa, & Caribbean, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "These additional 787s will help Mexico's largest airline expand its international presence with a stellar product for its valued customers. The Dreamliner will allow Aeromexico to provide the highest level of service to its passengers, while taking advantage of the airplane's unmatched economics."

Made primarily from composite materials, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the first mid-size airplane capable of flying long-range routes and will allow Aeromexico to replace older aircraft on its European, Asian and South American routes. As a result of innovative technologies, the airplane offers unparalleled operating economics, fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. More than 800 787s are on order by 58 customers, a testament to the airplane's unique capabilities.

Aeromexico operates an all-Boeing fleet of airplanes larger than 100 seats. Grupo Aeromexico, the parent company of Aeromexico, operates its main hub out of the Mexico City International Airport. In 2011 the Group transported more than 14 million passengers and offered close to 600 daily flights to cities in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Central and South America, as well as Europe and Asia.

Boeing press release:
http://boeing.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=2546
This brings the total net orders for 2012 to -11. Next week Boeing will publish the definite 2012 order totals. I wonder if we will see a surprise, although it's usually Airbus that comes with the last minute orders.

I think it will be a guessing game at which aircraft company got more orders over the other for this year, given the slow success of the A380 and the debut of the B787. I just hope that Boeing would have a good number of delivered planes and a solid order book by the end of this year.

Boeing won that competition by a long shot with the 737 MAX order rush. When it comes to just wide bodies Airbus had been in front of Boeing for a big part of the year, but the recent rush with several bigger 777 orders pushed Boeing ahead of Airbus again. But that could easily change again when Airbus publishes it's 2012 total.

And with the deliveries it's going good for Boeing. Up to December Boeing delivered a total of 537 planes, already more then it's 2011 total of 477. It's not that surprising with the 787 and the 747-8 that are now up and running. With the production ramp up of the 787 next year it could even be more next. Unless the strike happens in February and March, that could seriously hurt Boeing's production output.

Let's just hope that the negotiations will hold and make a deal between management and the unions so that Boeing can continue its production smoothly and efficiently as it should. I'm wondering then how many 787s and 747-8s will be flying by the end of next year...

And a kind of a surprise delivery yesterday.

United took their 6th, the LN45, N27901.

Bringing the total for December to 10, by far the biggest month in deliveries so far. And there could be 1 more if ANA take contractual delivery of the LN83, JA818A on the last day of the year and who knows what Air India has up their sleeves. The united delivery brings the total for 2012 to 45.

Wit this delivery all the frames from LN40 up to LN82 except for several Indian and Chinese 787s have now been delivered. 8 787s are now in the EMC, 3 of those are for normal airlines (Ethiopian and JAL), 1 is for a hopefully soon normal airline (China Southern). 3 are for Air India and 1 was originally for Royal Air Maroc. That leaves only 12 787s that are still in storage that need rework, the last one of those will be delivered in 2015.

This all means that next year the deliveries should be more linked to the production speed and order. There could be a sudden spike when the Chinese approval is given, Boeing might be able to deliver all the planes that are already ready in a very short period.

Wow that was unexpected. I hope there are more surprises before the year ends and there'll be deliveries to both ANA and Air India.

And the 11nd 787 was delivered this month.

The LN65, VT-ANL, Air India flew out of Charleston to Frankfurt on it's 1st leg of it's delivery flight.
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/A...935Z/KCHS/EDDF

Air India: 5
December: 11
2012: 46
Total: 49

I wonder if the 2 deliveries to Air India means that they also have the financing in order for the next couple of deliveries. There are 2 more on the flightline in Charleston and the next 787 that will roll out of assembly in Everett is also for Air India. It would be nice if they are delivered a bit faster then the previous ones.

But this delivery, the 3rd from Charleston is also good for the workers there as they now see their work is actually delivered. This means that half of the 6 787s that were assembled there have now been delivered.

Brand new year, a brand new route for Air India's B787 service. Starting 31 March 2013, AI will operate its B787 on its Delhi to Paris (CDG) route, making it the second long-haul route for the airline. The current service will replace existing B777-200LR aircraft used on the route. Schedule:

AI143 DEL1315 – 1855CDG 788 D
AI142 CDG2200 – 0935+1DEL 788 D

With 27 B787s joining AIs fleet I take it the plan is to eventually retire the B77L which AI have been struggling to sell...

I think EK can take even more of AI's B77Ls, or it can venture out to new airline customers like those in SE Asia like Philippine Airlines.
