The test result are not a secret, it's just that Boeing won't share the results since that's up to the FAA and/or the NTSB to publish in one of their updates or the final investigation reports.

I wonder if anything is up with China Southern's B-2727 atm. Don't seem to have seen anything else except the fact that they have taken flight to boeing field.

IIRC B-2727 flown 3 test flights before flight to Ft. Worth for (probably) some paint job. It will be first delivery for China Southern (3rd build airframe).

LN97 ZA513 JA819A for ANA completed and painted:

It will be 19th ANA's 787-8, and it is 26th ANA's build airframe (if ANA will take delivery of horrible teens and LN22; all waiting for re-work in Everett). Maybe only 10 to go through FAL.

They didn't fly it to Boeing Field but to Everett where it's standing on the flightline being prepared for delivery when the grounding is lifted and the Chinese aviation authorities give the go ahead.

The talk in the industry about an interim fix is getting stronger, this could mean that the 787 could already fly again next month. But as long there's no official approval by the FAA there's no certainty that this will actually happen. The 787 could be grounded for several more months.

And in the case of the Chinese 787s there's also the approval of the Chinese authorities and I'm not to sure if they will approve of an interim fix. So it could take even longer for them after the other airlines are back flying and taking delivery of their 787s again.

All in all it's just very unclear whats going to happen in the near future.

New info on a possible cause of the battery fires.

Quote:
Tiny "fibres" may have played role in 787 battery failure - NTSB

(Reuters) - The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board is investigating whether tiny fibre-like formations, known as dendrites, inside lithium-ion batteries could have played a role in battery failures on two Boeing Co 787 Dreamliners last month.

Dendrites - just one of several possible causes under investigation by the agency - accumulate as a battery is charged and discharged, and can cause short circuits, according to battery experts.

787-10 looks great. I hope Boeing will change visualisation into reality. This will be the most beautiful airplane in the world.

LN19 ZA151 former CN-RGC for RAM is in the EMC, position 2. Maybe Boeing started change incorporation/re-work.

LOT Dreamliners Likely to Be Grounded Until October

WARSAW—LOT Polish Airlines SA said it doesn't plan to fly its Boeing 787 Dreamliners again until at least October, setting back turnaround hopes at the struggling airline and indicating some industry executives don't expect a rapid solution to the jet's battery troubles.

Where will Boeing park all the new 787s they produce? As I understand it is not allowed to fly them elsewhere and the production continues so the new airplanes must be stored somewhere near the factories but where?

For now - in Everett. There are still few empty spots.
Production rate is 4 per month, so if Boeing solve batteries case till the end of March it won't be a problem.

There are still enough places left at the airport for a couple of months of production. And Boeing will definitely get the approval to fly the 4 787s that already have flown to another airport for storage. That will free up another month of production. Only a very long period without any progress will make it an issue, but then it would be advisable for Boeing to slow down the production drastically.

But I don't think it will take that long that it will become a problem. Airlines do make preparations for a longer period, but that's just to be safe. It's not just LOT, but JAL also said it will delay the retirements of their 767s even the ones that where scheduled to leave the fleet in 2014. ANA has asked Boeing to pull the deliveries of their last 3 777-200s forwards as a stopgap.

Boeing readies short-term battery fix, facing uncertainty

Boeing will propose to regulators as early as this week a short-term fix to bolster the 787’s defenses in case of battery fires like those that have kept the jet grounded for the past month.

The goal is to get the planes flying passengers again, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the matter, while Boeing works on a comprehensive redesign of the lithium-ion battery system that could take nine months or more to implement.

The interim fix includes a heavy-duty titanium or steel containment box around the battery cells, and high-pressure evacuation tubes that, in the event of a battery fire, would vent any gases directly to the outside of the jet.

If a temporary fix will not be certified it could take up to 9 months.

All Things 787 has updated its production list with the Line Numbers 131 to 160.
http://nyc787.blogspot.com/

LN133 & LN139: the 2nd and 3rd 787-9 prototypes

LN141 ILFC/ABD & LN143 ILFC/KBL: 2 for ILFC with unknown Boeing customer codes.

LN157: 1st 787 for Kenya Airways

LN160: 1st 787 for Air Canada

The LN149 has not been designated yet. The other line numbers are for airlines that already have taken delivery or will see their 1st 787 assembled before LN131.

These 1st of these slots will go into assembly in July, the last at the end of the year. Pending delays because of the battery issues and the possible strike for which the vote is still ongoing.
