LN39 ZA260 ET-AOO is now painted, sitting in the flightline. This is the first build frame for Ethiopian, and only one to delivery this year.
787 near Atlas Air 747-8f is LN102 ZA576 LN-BKA, the first for Norwegian.

Which aircraft is LN-BKA?
The one with the red tail and black tarpaulin?

It's the all white in front of the control tower and next to the Atlas Air 747.

~~~~~~~
One less worry for Boeing.
The union members have accepted Boeings offer, this means there won't be a strike.
Quote:
SPEEA technical members vote to ACCEPT Boeing’s offer for a new four-year contract
SEATTLE – Technical Unit members have approved a new four-year contract with The Boeing Company.
Votes tallied Monday (March 18) at SPEEA headquarters, show Technical workers approved the contract offer by a vote of 4,244 to accept and 654 to reject.
Union members were voting on a contract offer that was identical to the offer Technical workers narrowly rejected and the larger Professional Unit of engineers narrowly accepted on Feb. 19. Union negotiators told members a second rejection would likely result in a strike as Boeing was refusing to move on all issues.
The new contract extends the terms of the previous contract, including 5% annual salary-increase pools, no cost increases to employees for medical coverage and an increase to the retirement benefit. By the end of the new agreement, SPEEA-represented technical workers, and also the engineers, will have received eight straight years of 5% salary-increase pools.
The major area of contention during negotiations was the defined benefit retirement (pension) plan. While overwhelming member support and workplace action helped union negotiators continually get Boeing to improve most elements of the contract offer, the company steadfastly refused to move away from eliminating the pension for new technical workers hired after March 1, 2013. Like most new employees at Boeing, technical workers and engineers will now receive the company’s “enhanced 401(k)” and not the defined benefit pension.
SPEEA and Boeing started negotiations in April, 2012. Technical workers have been without a contract since Nov. 25. While engineers and technical workers bargain at the same time, the contracts are separate and independent agreements
Mr. O'Leary is usually very critical about everything, but today he was rather soft on Boeing and especially the 787.
Quote:
Ryanair CEO: Boeing 787 Problems 'Regulatory Crap'
Despite the "unfair commentary" on the 787 Dreamliner, Boeing makes great aircraft, Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary told CNBC on Tuesday.
The Irish airline just purchased 175 of Boeing's next generation 737 jets for $15.6 billion. But the oft-outspoken O'Leary said in a " Squawk Box " interview that he would have been just as happy with the Dreamliner if "Boeing wanted to sell me lot of 787s, cheaply."
"I would have no difficulty ... my passengers would have no trouble getting on [787s]," he added. "You will come back here in 12 months time and everybody will have forgotten there was a lithium battery on the 787."
Japan agency: prep for 787 test flight not yet complete
TOKYO/SEATTLE | Fri Mar 22, 2013 12:32pm EDT
(Reuters) - Japan's Civil Aviation Bureau said on Friday that preparations are not yet complete for any test flight of Boeing Co's (BA.N) grounded 787 Dreamliner this week.
"It's Thursday (in the United States) and nothing has been set," said Shigeru Takano, a senior safety official at the Civil Aviation Bureau (CAB). "There are a number of steps it needs to take before a test flight," he said at a news briefing.
Boeing Co (BA.N) plans to conduct two flight tests of its revamped 787 battery system, as soon as the end of the week, three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Wednesday. The aircraft maker has predicted the Dreamliner could return to operation within weeks.
Test flights would mark a step toward Boeing's goal of returning the jet to service in weeks, after it was grounded worldwide in January because batteries overheated on jets owned by All Nippon Airways Co Ltd (9202.T) and Japan Airlines Co Ltd (9201.T).
Japan's aviation regulator last week criticized as inappropriate remarks made by Boeing executives at a March 15 press briefing in Tokyo who said that the cause of the battery fault may never be found. The CAB also said it was too early to estimate that the 787 would return to operation within weeks.
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said Boeing did not inform investigators of what it planned to say about the Dreamliner jets during last week's briefing in Tokyo.
Boeing's position was "inconsistent with our expectations" from a company involved in an accident probe, NSTB general counsel David Tochen wrote in a letter.
The letter points out that NTSB policy prohibits parties to an investigation from releasing information about it or drawing any conclusions.
At the March 15 press conference in Tokyo, Boeing said that the NTSB had ruled out the possibility that fire had erupted inside the metal battery container in the JAL incident, and that flames only occurred outside the box.
NTSB spokesman Peter Knudson later said it was too early in the investigation to rule out fire inside the box.
"We have received the correspondence and remain fully committed to support the NTSB and other regulatory authorities in their investigations into the cause of the 787 battery incidents, and also continue our around-the-clock efforts to return the 787 fleet to service," said Boeing spokesman Marc Birtel.
This might also be a reason why there was no test flight on Friday as well.
But anyway, since there has never been an official announcement of an exact date for a testflight it's nonsense to make news articles about vague rumors not turning out to be true.
The 1st test flight is loaded into flight aware, it's delayed but that's normal for test flights.
ps. This is just a functional check flight and the certification flight for the battery fix. That one will happen in a couple of days if this flight is successful.
And it landed safely after a 2 hour flight mostly along the pacific coast.
Landing of 787 Functional Check Flight by The Boeing Company, on Flickr
Quote:
Landing of 787 Functional Check Flight
March 25, 2013 -- Line number 86, a Boeing-owned 787 airplane built for LOT Polish Airlines, departs Paine Field in Everett, Wash. for a functional check flight. The airplane took off at 12:11 p.m. Pacific Time and landed 2 hours, 9 minutes later at 2:20 p.m.
The flight is a normal Boeing production check flight intended to validate that all systems function as designed. During a functional check flight, crews cycle the landing gear and operate all the backup systems, in addition to performing electrical system checks from the flight profile. Across airplane programs, more than 600 functional check flights were completed in 2012.
Following the completion of the functional check flight, we will analyze the data from the flight and prepare for certification ground and flight demonstration in the coming days. The plan is to conduct one certification demonstration flight. That flight, which will take plan on Line 86, will demonstrate that the new battery system performs as intended during flight conditions.
Free publicity for LOT! It´s worldwide reported when something new happens with the grounded 787 fleet and what do the people see in the pictures? LOT - Polish Airlines!
Good publicity too, since you can't help but feel bad for them having timed the inaugural to ORD the day of the grounding. I hear parking the 787 due to the grounding is costing them around $50,000 a day!
