ZA380 B-2725 for China Southern B1 flight scheduled again:
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE380

weather in Everett is good (RC572 HZ-AI4 started B1 flights few minutes ago), so that 788 will probably go into air for first time.

Wonder what's happening with the Chinese approval- guess we'll have to wait till the FAA officially lifts the grounding to see how swiftly they follow.

Am I the only person that actually dislikes the CZ 787 livery?

No
I prefer China Southern's regular livery.

I like the special 787 livery, but I would also have liked if they wouldn't have repainted the one with the original livery. I somehow believe if the Chinese certification and the grounding hadn't delayed the delivery so much it would not have been repainted.

I prefer the special 787 livery for CZ because it gives the airline a refreshing look, especially that it can become a large operator of the Dreamliner. Not that CZ's current livery is bad, but I want to see some change to it as well because it seems to be all too common now. I truly wish that CZ will have special liveries painted, not just for the 787, but for the A380 as well.

There's one more on the flight line now.

The twitter message dates from March 21. The 7th CHS frame is LN81 (Hainan) while the one with the blue tail is the 10th CHS frame: LN95 for China Southern (4 CHS frames - LN46, 54, 60 & 65 - were already delivered).

Here are also 6 tails visible on April 18: http://twitter.com/Kearney_Brendan/s...62193973723137

So what we have is:

LN72 (Air India)
LN76 (Hainan)
LN81 (Hainan)
LN85 (Hainan)
LN91 (Air India)
LN95 (China Southern)

Delivered last year:

LN46 (Air India)
LN54 (Air India)
LN60 (Air India)
LN65 (Air India)

I knew I had seen it before, I just mixed up the months.

And it wasn't even the 7th that was completed back then but the 9th.

More news

The EASA, the European Aviation Safety Agency has also approved the new battery system.

Quote:
The Agency today approved the design change of the Boeing 787-8 Auxiliary Power Unit battery, battery charger and battery enclosure installation and certifies that the changes proposed by Boeing meet the EASA Type Certification Basis requirements. The applicable airworthiness directive will now be updated which will allow the European operated aircraft to return to service as soon as the modification will be installed.
http://easa.europa.eu/home.php

LOT will now be able to fly their 787s again when the new battery is fitted. And BA and Norwegian will be able to take delivery, but that will still take some time.

~~~~~
United flew their 787 that was in LAX to Texas today.
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/U...900Z/KLAX/KSKF
~~~~~
And the NTSB hearings on the battery issues started today.

- Boeing again said that it might never find the root cause for both incidents.
- The NTSB will start a inquiry on the certification of the original batteries.

Just search 787 on Google News for all the articles.

Yeah there is some confusion. The one rolled out last month should be LN91 (9th frame indeed) while LN95 (10th frame) rolled out last week.

The actual picture.

BA has clearly decided that the blue engines are more important then a percent better performance.

And the 2nd one for BA will be the next one to roll out of the factory.

The QR frame which was stuck in LHR is now en route to Doha.
Things start to move a bit, after a few month and millions of dollars lost for Boeing and all the carriers involved.

I didn't bother Boeing too much financially since they just posted strong 1st quarter results. Although it could of course have been better without the 787 problems.

Some 787 related news from the earnings call.

- Production rate will soon go to 7 per month.
- The deliveries will restart in May.
- Currently Boeing is working on battery mods on 10 in service and 9 production 787s.
- The bulk of the fleet should be modified by mid May (the early frames that still are stored for rework will probably get them later)
- The engineering work on the 787-9 has been completed, it will be in assembly in Everett in mid-year. And the 1st delivery will take place early 2014.
- The delivery forecast for 2013 remains unchanged at 60+.
- There's almost no traveled work anymore, all parts are now coming fully completed from the subcontractors.
