I truly wish that CZ will have special liveries painted, not just for the 787, but for the A380 as well.
I just think the "Blue Wings" on the fuselage look like plastic wrap one would find on new garage doors. Definitely think if the blue was a very light grey, it would look a lot better (text/company name would also be neater).

Great to see blue engines on the BA 787's. I'm sure there is a lot of hype surrounding the white (or grey) paint.

Looks like a superb 787! I wonder what the seating configuration for that aircraft will be, and if there will be new cabin products that will be unique for that aircraft type?

They already released seatmaps and it will use the same club world, world traveler and world traveler plus as the recent generation (a380, 773 etc) it's 2-3-2 forwards/backwards in club world (35 seats), 2-3-2 in world traveler plus (25 seats) and the unfortunately customary 3-3-3 in world traveler (154 seats).

The paint job does look sharp though, doesn't it.

It's a good habit to add the source of the picture to your post.

Also because it can lead to other pictures like this look into the main line in Everett, taken yesterday

Boeing eyes new rate increase in tandem with 787-10X launch

Another production rate increase may be necessary to launch the double-stretch 787-10X later this year, Boeing chief executive Jim McNerney said in a teleconference with analysts on 24 April.

As the proposed 320-seat version of the 787-10X nears a formal launch, Cowen & Co. analyst Cai von Rumohr asked McNerney on the earnings call how Boeing could offer delivery slots for a new 787 variant without stepping up the monthly production rate to at least 12 aircraft per month.

"You're asking the right question," McNerney replied. "We'll have to sort through that. If it did require taking up [the production] rate, that would add more time to it."

"One thing we don't lack for with the -10X is demand," McNerney says. "Customers want this airplane."
full article:
http://www.flightglobal.com/news/art...launch-385102/

I guess it's a matter of numbers, the launch of the 787-10 might increase the backlog to such a point that increasing the production rate becomes economical viable for the long term. And it's not something that can be done on a short term for a short period since it does need enough investments on the subcontractor level. But on the other side, you won't get the orders if the production slots are full. Boeing has to decide beforehand if it wants to increase the production rate and I think that they will do that. Just like Airbus has decided for the A350-1000 production, even talking about opening up a special assembly line for this subtype. The move has lead to several conversions and new orders for the type.

Talking about orders. The LN149 that is currently listed as unknown on the production list on nyc787.blogspot.com is now rumored to be for Xiamen Airlines. They had ordered 6 787s in 2011 pending government approval, but it hasn't been firmed up yet. It's such an order that could be officially firmed up with the 1st deliveries to China after the official approval by the Chinese authorities. I do expect even more new or top-up orders from China when that happens.

After the lows for the program in the 1st 4 month the year might end with several high points, 2013 will likely be an extreme roller-coaster ride for the 787.

On the video on this page you will see some very short footage of the 1st 787-9 fuselage parts in the factory in Charleston, from about 2:50.

I overlooked that ILFC 787 in the list. Btw, the Aeromexico is on position 3 in the 40-24. Behind the Norwegian is the 3rd for BA.

There are several flights today.

The SP-LRC, LOT already came back and the JA818A, ANA is now in the air above Washington state. The B-2722 for Hainan airlines is flying from Charleston to Forth Worth to be painted.

Putting the battery issues to one side, the 787 is a great aircraft and delivers huge savings over the 767 to name but one. It is sure to sell in considerable numbers.

Can't wait to see the -9 roll out! I think it's proportions will make it a better looking aircraft. Not that there's anything wrong with the -8.

Absolutely right, and the -9 is optimised to replace all those A343's so it should outsell its smaller sister.
