Bursa is such a beautiful city. It looks much nicer on street level but the panoramas in these pictures are very nice too. I have been there a couple of times, it is so romantic and it has a special place in the Turks' hearts.

Bursa was the first Turkish city I ever visited. That was in 1983. Iwas eleven years old and awestruck by the huge mosque with the open air dome - wow!
A really beautiful city, with the peaceful ambience of a town, so green, fresh air, beautiful architecture, early seat of the ottomans and the ferry to Istanbul - really the best way for visistors to Istanbul is to go to Bursa first, then take the ferry from mudanya to Istanbul - it is the most impressive way to experience the old imperial capital in my opinion. and not forgetting karagoz and hacivet! bursa has a special place in the hearts of visitors too. |

i love those two guys.
weren't the real guys the puppets are based on working to build the big mosque in bursa? think some kind of tv film about them (the real guys in history) would be cool. |

Yes, you are right! They were real
During the constrcution of the mosque they became famous with their friendly fights and then people created this shadow play for their memories...

yeah, in britain there is something similar, called 'Punch and Judy' - quite a scary show for children but i'm unure of its origins.
