Not just any tallest, looks to be the new tallest in western Canada.

What delineates the Western vs Eastern divide in Canada?
In the USA it most often is the Mississippi river

The Ontario - Manitoba border. Culturally and socially, the extreme northwestern portion of Ontario (from Thunder Bay west) feels more connected to the West than the East but the provincial boundary is usually the defining line. The East - West divide is something deeply ingrained into the national consciousness in Canada, even more so than in the US. Not only do we have a large un populated region separating the 2, but the topography changes drastically going from one to the other. 30 minutes west of the ON - MB border you really feel like you're in a very different place. Big sky country, frontier vs. rugged heavily wooded Canadian shield.

Side note: The 3 northern territories (Yukon, Nunavut, and NWT) are technically in 'the West' but are usually not considered part of western Canada, but 'the North'. 'Central Canada' refers to southern Ontario and southern Quebec, the nation's political, economic, and cultural centre. Canadians in NS, NB, PEI, and NL (Atlantic Canada) usually say 'central Canada' in reference to this region as they consider themselves the East.

I like the Art Deco-ish top, but the rest is nothing special.

Another tall building for Edmonton, lots going on there! I have to say though, I'm not a big fan of the design. This tower is really mediocre looking for a new tallest. It's too bad they couldn't have had a good design to go with the height.

Extremely mediocre. Its height is its only redeeming factor. The arena looks great.

Glad to see where Edmonton is going, in many ways, Canadian urban design can help inspire mid-size American cities to invest more in their cores. I'd say Edmonton was in line with Oklahoma City before they really invested in making over their skyline. Now they're far ahead, sort of reminds me today of Kansas City, in the sense that the city had a rather bland base of architecture before, but it's been injected with new life and quality architecture. And I'm sure inevitably it'll be Denver or Minneapolis level.
