And now some technical drawings:

The terminal would be (according to wikipedia) the 3rd largest building in the world by footprint (~272,000 m^2), 9th largest by floor area (~744,000 m^2) and 3rd largest airport terminal (after Dubai and Beijing)

Here you can see the three preliminary documents that are included as part of the Draft Invitation Tender for the Terminal Building of the NAICM. These should suffer minimal modifications when the actual tender is launched around September.

The documents are in spanish, but there are plenty of visual samples. The first document is the Executive Summary that details the general construction works. The second details the materials and construction of the cover and facades, and the final document details all interior work and fixed furniture. These are huge documents but they are worth checking them out.

I counted 46 jet bridges, is that enough? The current airport has 56 and there are still times when you have to board via stairway.

It actually has 92 jet bridges. The terminal has 46 fixed bridges (think of them as the first half of a jet bridge) that each lead into 2 jet bridges, and so each fixed bridge can serve 1 wide body or 2 narrow body airplanes.

This render shows that the interior of each fixed bridge is divided by a glass wall so both jet bridges can be used at the same time for two different airplanes.

Something that it's a little confusing in the render above is that it shows a narrow body (737?) parked very close to a 777 with both sharing the same fixed bridge. As far as I know that configuration is not allowed as there's just not enough space for that between the gates.

For this first stage there will be only a single terminal, which will replace the current 2 terminals at the AICM. When the NAICM reaches full development then it will have 2 main terminals with 2 satellite terminals (one for each main terminal).

Here are some videos of the methods that are going to be used for building the terminal and runways.

In this photo taken from the ISS you can see the area where construction is taking place (the white dots in the middle of the top dark field)

This video shows what is currently happening in the site: rubble removal, construction of perimeter fence and roads, access roads, campsite, drainage and site grading.

With this video, the thread title should be changed to U/C. Sure, its still a long way for finish the airport, but works are in place, and gaining momentum.

The design is so futuristic, right out of a science fiction movie. Nice upgrade from the old airport!

Will it be far from the center of the city?
