Another vision. South America seems to have a lot of those.

AP has a story on it today.

Quote:

Argentina to Build Latin America’s Tallest Skyscraper

The President of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, announced on Sept. 10 the awarding of a contract to build the 335-meter “Polo Audiovisual,” which would become the tallest building in Latin America, exceeding the current title-holder, Torre Costanera, Santiago, Chile, by 35 meters.
After a two year-tender, the project was finally assigned to Riva S.a. Construcciones. The investment will be USD$295 million. The construction will begin this November and is expected to be finished within five years.

“This means that the following government has to commit itself to continue with the project,” said Fernandez.

The President also said that the building will be a center of audiovisual and cinematographic production, will contain a concert hall for 15,000 people, a hotel, and a museum of visual arts.

“The building will become a symbol of Buenos Aires, our capital, and we believe that for its originality, creativity, its colors, it will become a symbol for all Argentinians."

Yes, and no supertall even near to become reality.

But the design is great! Though it should be even taller, just imagine with arround 500m

Well, Chile has a 300m tower (Costanera Center), so we have at least 1 supertall finished.

I think such an exaggerated sloping part on a building this tall looks awkward.

It's supposed to contain a LOT of offices, a hotel and studios so I guess the design tries to get the most possible amount of space without making the building too wide.

Beautiful, nautical.

Imposing but graceful.

A winner for Buenos Aires.

On the bright side though; it's a skateboarder's wet dream.
