NEW YORK | 1710 Broadway | +200m | +656ft | 60 fl | Demo

Vision: Supertall Possible at 1710 Broadway
http://newyorkyimby.com/2014/10/visi...-broadway.html

Quote:
YIMBY came across the first renderings for a potential tower coming to 1710 Broadway, on the northeast corner of West 54th Street, which could also become the street’s first actual supertall, potentially topping the 1,000-foot mark.
Quote:
the Municipal Art Society’s “Accidental Skyline” map reveals approximately 350,000 square feet of unused air rights within the surrounding block. That number is one of the highest totals along Broadway, and would invite the possibility of a tower like the one depicted in the renderings, which stands approximately 80 stories tall. Goldstein Hill & West is the architect

I won't comment on the design since that's almost certainly a concept render, but I like the proportions. Not too thin at all, which is something I appreciate in that area these days.

This looks fantastic! Completely unexpected, but it's starting to bring the supertall 'plateau' of New York further towards the centre

It's a nice simple design, with very sleek setbacks and some nice proportions, I also love that at each setback creates a vertical slice where the building juts out very slightly. Again, a very simple tower, but with some good refinements

I hope Funkyskunk doesn't mind, but I badly added a spire to Nordstrom and I've added this building in too (again, very badly) try and find it

A nice tall complement to 1715 Broadway. I hope this one happens!

Also... in America, supertalls are 1,000 feet. 984 just won't cut it.

Me too! I like the setbacks and most especially like what it will add to the street level experience.

Like Yimby touched up on in the article for this tower is the cost feasibility factor. I hope that this trend will continue and hopefully we will see a lot more of these kind of very tall towers panned like 520 West 42nd and the completed 1710 Broadway across the street.

I love the design, but it is probably going to be altered. I shouldn't worry though, because the other new supertall in NY are beautiful. It looks like the towers being built in Tianjin, Steinway Tower and some fat tower in the Hudson Yards combined.

The site today. It's a nice building sandwiched between two beautiful ones.

As you lads can see, it's a very shallow site.

Looks good!

It seems a new NYC supertall is revealed every few days lately. NYC will be the world capital of supertalls.

It is a pretty sexy building. I also like the thin proportions. The giant wrap around billboard is kind of tacky, though. Would be nice if they could incorporate the current building into the base a la Hearst Tower. But in any case it will be a solid addition to NYC.

I agree, the current building would look good as a base. The billboard isn't nice.

Nice looking supertall, not sure about the billboard at the base. I guess its appropriate on Broadway but meh if it could go I'd rather it did.

I think they're just using that LED board to pitch the tower's location.
