Iconic $110 Million Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill Marks Hilton Hotels & Resorts’ 50th Property in Africa

NAIROBI, Kenya, October 3, 2016/APO/ -- Hilton Worldwide (NYSE:HLT) (www.HiltonWorldwide.com) has signed a management agreement with Jabavu Village Ltd to open a 255 guest-room and suite hotel in Kenya’s capital. The hotel is set to open in 2020 and joins 50 Hilton Hotels & Resorts properties trading or under development in 17 countries across Africa.
“In recent years Upper Hill has grown to become a hub for international businesses and organisations, with a number of embassies and organisations setting up their regional offices in the district, including Cisco Systems, World Bank and the IMF," said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide. “The striking new-build property will pierce the skyline of Upper Hill and will be well placed to meet this growing demand in one of Nairobi’s most exciting and colourful areas.”

Kenya is one of Africa’s fastest growing economies with strong growth in agricultural, tourism, construction and telecommunication sectors. The country’s diversifying economy means it is a popular destination, busy with leisure and business travellers.

Mr Mahat Noor, Project Director of Jabavu Village Ltd, said, “Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill is our first project with Hilton and we are tremendously excited to be collaborating with them on this spectacular development. Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill and the larger mixed-use development, which will include a residential, retail and entertainment complex, as well as an adjacent office tower, will be Africa’s tallest building, standing at 330m.”

Co-developed by Jabavu Village and White Lotus Projects, Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill will comprise of an Executive Lounge and five food and beverage outlets, including a relaxing poolside bar, speciality smokehouse and grill restaurant, lobby dining area with landscaped deck and a boutique rooftop bar with unbeatable vista views of the Nairobi skyline on the 43rd level.

Business travellers will have a wide choice of professional facilities to choose from including a ballroom and meeting rooms of approximately 1400sqm. Guests will also have access to an outdoor pool and fitness and spa centres.

We have new heights the main tower will now stand at 330m and the hotel building will be 43 floors high...

This is going to be really nice. Haven't seen too much of Africa on the global stage for the skyscraper boom yet, I'm hoping we get to see more in the near future.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSEC) to construct the tallest building in Africa

Quote:
Hass Group has announced that it has signed a Sh 20 billion agreement with China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSEC) to construct the tallest building in Africa in Nairobi’s business district of Upper Hill.

Speaking at the signing ceremony that was held at Kempinski Hotel in Beijing, Chairman of Hass Petroleum Group, Mr Abdinassir Ali Hassan described the signing as a ‘historic’ event and congratulated CSCEC on winning the contract after a long negotiation and tender process.

He said, “It has not been an easy road. CSCEC went through a rigorous tender system which they won over ten international companies including European, Turkish as well as other Chinese competitors. Hass Group awarding the contract to CSCEC demonstrates a stronger growing economic partnership between the Chinese Government and the Kenyan Government, and is a testament to Kenya’s economic and political stability. This project will give CSCEC a majestic entry point into Africa.”

Mr Li Mingguang, Vice President of CSCEC Overseas Operations said, “This will be the tallest building in Africa and become a landmark in Kenya. It is sure to drive regional development, promote economic growth, and attract more investment and tourism into Kenya. China State Construction understands the importance of this grand project and is honoured to be chosen as the main contractor.”

CSEC is currently ranked the largest construction company in the world with an integrated construction and real estate conglomerate covering housing construction, international contracting, real estate development and investment, infrastructure construction and investment, prospecting and design.

Hass Towers, an iconic mixed use development set to open its doors in 2020, in Nairobi’s business district of Upper Hill. Construction of the foundations for Hass Towers is due to start in April this year, when the project will be officially launched in Kenya. Once complete, this record-breaking mixed use development will include Grade A offices, a 5-star Hilton hotel, plus a luxury retail and entertainment complex. Standing over 320 metres high with 67 storeys.

And it looks like we now have the official height the tower will be 67 floors at 320 meters. And the second tower will be 45 floors high and we can estimate the meters total....

So a mod could update the thread.

Africa's Forthcoming Tallest Building Breaks Ground in Nairobi
Quote:
The 223-metre Carlton Centre in Johannesburg will no longer lay claim to the title of Africa's tallest building after the Pinnacle Towers in Nairobi, which just broke ground, is built to a height of at least 300 metres. The supertall complex by Dubai-based White Lotus Group and Jabavu Village, the real estate arm of Hass Petroleum, will contain anywhere from 67 to 70 floors, while a shorter tower of 45 storeys will encompass a Hilton hotel.
