Hi guys, I've been at the proposed site for the project 4 days ago and took as many
photos as feasible at ground level, both west side and east side of N Lake Shore.

Near the ground in the east side there are these works being performed on Navy Pier.

In the west side there is still a sign referring to the old megatall project, Chicago Spire.

Thanks very much for those photos, Fabricio! I am shocked though not really surprised that that much vegetation has already grown over the old spire site since it's been a few years after all. Guess we'll see what eventually becomes of it! In the meantime I'd suspect the ring foundation to last quite awhile, no? Though who knows what kind of horrible waterlogged cesspool is at the bottom of it by now.

It's almost been a decade since the construction of the spire!

Who owns the land/property of this site? Is it public land owned by the City of Chicago or is it private owned? Is their any serious propositions/plans to actually build someday a tall building on this site? Is it a question of Tenants and demand? Is the City and the elected officials positive to build something here?

I sure would LOVE to see something Mega Vega Tall be built here. Chicago is just an incredible impressive city and if they get the First Skyscraper over 2000ft = 600 Meters then this would be an modern Marvel and people would begin talk about Chicago again in a scale that outruns New York. Go Chicago

Chicago really needs a new signature tower, especially to counter the "slim residential tower" trend that's destroying Manhattan right now...

Believe it or not, but Manhattan problems are possible to solve. Oulu is an IRL example.

Then we two are on the same page on this one.
I do looking forward to "One Vanderbilt Tower" which will be the "New Signature Tower" for N.Y. I just hope that "My Second Home" Chicago will get it to. I spending alot of time here. Great Memories Great Relatives is my motto for Windy City.

First time I ever visited this page my thoughts was about Chicago. I went on the old search engine Yahoo and typed in "Skyscrapercity" because I honestly thought that it would bring me to some pages about Chicago and it's history of Skyscrapers, when I saw that there was a website called skyscrapercity I also thought that the entirely website was about Windy City alone This was over ten years ago probably.
Such a strong influence gives this city me. So YES I do hope one day that Chicago will get it's Signature Tower for the 21st Century. It truly deserves it and I hope it will be the first Megatall in the Americas.

Chicago Spire had a great design, very refreshing, though i do think this project fits more with the city's aesthetics.

Yes, let Manhattan be the new Oulu. Just gotta find a way to block all that sunlight.

Honestly, I highly doubt about it. To become a "signature tower", it must be stylish and meaningful.

The earth retention system was intended to be temporary, until the underground garage could be constructed. It was designed with no consideration for long-term durability. It will probably last a really long time, but nobody knows how long.
