It is DESIGNED to look worn. Same cladding that is on Sears is on John Hancock and John has the same type of 'worn' look.

Also: Chicago's weather plays a huge role in skyscraper design. Aon Center for example. When it was first built, it was clad in white cararra marble. It made the building whiter than what it is now but Chicago's harsh winters and marble do not mix. Pieces of the marble would crack and crumble off (one piece crashed through the Prudential Center and I think another piece killed a lady on the ground). So the building was reclad in granite. Recladding the building cost nearly as much as it did to build the building.

Far from basic.

Two Prudential Plaza shows some really amazing architecture, just like PAFC. Nowadays, most of the tendencies in architecture are deluded the big time, with this 'Gateway' thing being one of the most demonstrative examples.

What inner city crime problems? Chicago's crime rates are lower than average and the only crime category that is worthy of being called "bad" is gang violence, but even with gang violence, the city is no more dangerous than any other city. Let me explain.

First off, the numbers are big because the city is big, but there are over a dozen big cities with higher per capita murder rates, such as Detroit, St. Louis, and Cleveland. Chicago's violence is pretty contained to a few areas, and that violence is mostly gang-on-gang or people who are in the immediate vicinity of gang members. So the gun violence isn't really an issue for much of the city's population

Because Chicago has so many people, it can get a murder every day, and that gets people’s attention. When you focus on numbers, not rates, Chicago ends up looking worse because you forget just how big a city it is. Chicago is 10,857 square miles big and has 9.5 million residents. It stretches from Wisconsin to Indiana. That's huge. The violence is contained to a few poor neighborhoods in the far southwest part of the city. Most deaths are from gang members or family members of those gang members, which is "good" for the rest of the population because as long as you don't join a gang, or make the poor choice of living in one of the few poor neighborhoods, you're fine. The only category that is actually significant enough to be recognized like I said before is gang-related crime, which is actually good news for most residents as gangs don't usually leave their territories. This means that as long as you don't make the stupid decision of moving into a poor neighborhood, which there are few of, you are totally fine as you would be in the safest city in the world.

Also, the Willis Tower doesn't need to be reclad just yet. The cladding IS getting old, but it won't affect the building for a few more years.

Thank you for clearing that up.. because I also thought Chicago was having some problems with crime just because how the media covered it or because the attention it was getting.

Back on topic.. something this big needs to get built in Chicago!
