The Gabriel Garcia Marquez Cultural Center will enhance the rich cultural aspects of the city by offering a cultural venue for dance and theater presentations, as well as a small museum showcasing the works of the Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Five towers with vertical and horizontal farming are proposed to sustain 25 percent of the units assigned to IDP, with options to include wind farms on the roof of the towers. An organic market will provide a site for the gathering and selling of products produced from the vertical farming, and a business center will provide legal and financial help to IDP. A day care center, a public school, and a health center for IDPs are also proposed as part of the design.

World Humanitarian Summit Selects Marshall Moya Design Project for Inclusion in First-Ever Exhibition Fair and Innovation Marketplace
Marshall Moya Design is pleased to announce we have been selected to participate in the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul on May 23 and 24. Our Urban Plan for Internally Displaced People will be featured in the Exhibition Fair and Innovation Marketplace – along with other projects and solutions of governments, agencies, and organizations dedicated to solving the world’s most challenging problems that threaten humanity.

An initiative of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, managed by UN OCHA, the inaugural World Humanitarian Summit is a global call to action to initiate programs which may help people around the world by coming up with solutions to address humanitarian crises.

Today, it is estimated that 125 million people around the globe are in need of humanitarian assistance. The number of displaced persons – 60 million – has almost doubled in a decade.

The WHS secretariat selected 300 exhibitors from entries around the world representing a diverse array of sectors and industries. Marshall Moya Design’s Urban Plan for Internally Displaced Peoplewas selected, and a small team from the firm, led by Principal Paola Moya, will attend and present the Plan.

MMD’s proposed project seeks to provide an economical, social and architectural solution for housing Internally Displaced People (IDPs). IDPs are people who are displaced and homeless in their own countries due to famine, internal war or natural disasters. The Plan’s goal is to generate housing solutions in urban settings by channeling government funds for physical infrastructures, and to establish incentives for private developers to create mixed-income projects. Though the plan is designed specifically to address the IDP crisis in Cartagena, Colombia, the intent is for the solution to be a model that may be used in communities around the world.

“This is a dream come true for me, as I have been passionate about the challenge of housing solutions for Internally Displaced People since I began working on my thesis on this topic while in graduate school. I am looking forward to traveling to Istanbul and meeting with partners in government and industry who are committed to solving this crisis for my native country of Colombia, and for countries all over the world,” said MMD’s Paola Moya...

Se ve interesante el video . Se ven bonitos los renders.

Ahora, creo que parte de la ciudad pedía espacios verdes para el disfrute, para trotar, hacer deporte, etc..
Y acá parece que se va a privatizar el area donde se asienta la actual base.
Además, dice 'Hotel Disney' (video 2, minuto 0:33) . Dando a entender que ya se le tiene clientes a esos lotes. Genera la duda de si no se hizo una subasta o negociación transparente para adjudicar los terrenos.
