By the way what do you think the Life time would be for these artificial islands?, How long do you think they'll last? and have they designed them taking into consideration a rise in global sea levels?

I would love to live in Dubai some day, but I'd probably have to stay inside all day with my friend the air conditioner

well, dubai has been booming for around 40 years.
so there are pics of dubai in the 50s which show it as a small settlement.

the pic shown on the last page is from 2003... which basically means its still pre-crazyness, coz a lot of the projects werent announced back tehn.

from what I've read it has the 2nd biggest and not the 1st. Anyway that wouldnt make any difference.

Dubai has the 3rd biggest ports operator in the world now and the busiest airport in the middle east and africa and 100s of skyscrapers

EXACTLY!!! This is my point.

Singapore is small, doesn't have any huge market around as HK has China, still Singapore is up there with the best and biggest. If Singapore did it, why not Dubai? Afterall Dubai is following the Singapore's way to progress more then that of any other place.

BTW, Changi's Airport operator is a Dubai owned company.

There is a picture around of the SZR as just a 2 lane desert road with the odd 10-15 storey building dotted along it. It's quite intresting to compare that picture to today . I don't know when the picture was taken, and I certainly can't be bothered finding it.

That water looks just so nice!

You can almost walk from one side to the other without getting under the water, I love it!

Ooooh btw, it's my birthday!

Too bad the smaller houses are a bit too close together.

The bigger ones have way more space:

Nice pic there. I guess that just adds to the cost of the larger houses.

Happy Birthday Dr. Dubai! Yep the water looks great.

here's a close up:

Yes, I also think that's the way for Dubai. I didn't know about Changi ^ ^

Back to the topic, when are the first Palm villas scheduled for completion ? I sure hope they can manage to do some landscaping before people move in...
