Common album... I think it's great. Every now and then, some music comes along that makes you pretty happy. Be's one of those albums. The beats are not groundbreaking but his lyrics are tremendous. It's his most mainstream album to date though.

Third - I picked up that One Be Lo album today and am not disappointed. It's good.

Boybaha - I tend to agree with you about the beats. I don't know if it's the fact that they aren't that hot, or just that they are ill-suited to Common. I'm still trying to decide.

The Album is good because the majority of music it is being released alongside is just garbage. Its a mature album but not mature in the same sense that Streets Disciple was for Nas. I'm not one for comparisons but Streets Disciple was iller than Be by far. This is a very solid album, frankly I enjoyed the Bootleg alot. I loved Consequence's verse on the original version of "They Say" and the opening/original arrangement to "Its your world". I enjoyed even the most commerical song on the lp "Love Is". The tracks I enjoyed the most were "Real People", "Be", "Faithful", and "Its Your World", I like "Chi-city" alot too. Although the album was bootlegged and downloaded alot I think he should have maintained some of the original elements in the songs (ie the volume of the kick drum in "Its Your World", I get a little particular w/ production at time because at one time I was studying to be an engineer). Lyrically the album is a gem, you can always count on Common to come with gems lyrically. I would have liked to hear Jay Dee do more than two beats, its not that the beats are bad but its just too much Kanye.

yeah Hydro that One Be Lo is ill, he definitley came through on that..some of my Favorite joints on that are "True Love", "Axis" and "enecS ehT No kcaB", I really like how the "Rite of Spring" Sample was used on "Evil of Self"

Lately i've been listening to O.C.'s Last Lp Starchild, its good and he defintley came through on it thanks to alot of the production...but that intensity/urgency he used to have in his flow is absent.

some other stuff I listen to back and forth

one of my absolute favorites

Just got the new Z-Trip ~ Shifting Gears

This proper debut album is a wonderful example of Trip's innovative style, and dedication to purity..
Click the image above to check out z-trip's forum.. He's on every day posting like anybody else..
Really nice, down to earth guy.....

Featuring artists such as Chuck D, AceyAlone, Mystic, Lyrics Born, Supernatural, Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Grandmaster Caz and more, the album's title refers to the changes of tone and pace from track to track. The first portion offers an uptempo variety of cuts, from the hilarious "Breakfast Club" featuring Murs and Supernatural, overflowing with humorous odes to Saturday morning cartoons; to the energetic party jam "All About The Music" which features the multilingual "Bronx Puerto Rican Prince" Whipper Whip whom Z-Trip credits as "an original Bronx MC." This track contrasts nicely with its follow-up, "The Get Down," featuring Lyrics Born riding a funky chorus in an ode to the old school style of rap just laid down by Whip.
