NEW YORK | 721 7th Ave | Pro

I assume that this tower will be roughly 185-200m. I believe that Extell owns an adjacent site which includes a huge parking garage. If the developer can get that, this will be much taller.

Rockefeller group still owns a huge development site on the south side of the street. SLG recently bought the corner building. I would not be surprised if they acquire the whole site from Rockefeller.

Here's an article about Rockefeller's assemblage on the south side of 48th, which I think that SLG will buy.

What types of projects does the Rockefeller group usually get involved in? Do you think that they are buying up all the plots simply to flip them off to another developer like extell?

They developed the former Lehman HQ, but they're mostly a landlord.

Lehman Brothers Building is 575 feet; built in 2001. It's good filler.

I am greatly looking forward to this, 740 8th Avenue, and the new Marriott.

Times Square is amazing!

Don't forget Extell's building on 8th. That could be a supertall.

That's 740 8th Avenue, isn't it?

I cant wait, Lex. Times Square area needs and deserves a supertall or two. It will help balance the Midtown skyline.

Here's a photo from tonight of One of the buildings on the site.

This is Rockefeller's other development site across the street. It owns the whole block, which is largely vscant. SL Green recently bought the corner property on 7th . I'd be shocked if SLG doesn't buy the contiguous parcels from Rockefeller.

Here's a bonus shot of the new sign

Here's a bonus shot of a great fountain next to the site which people waken through.

If they're demolishing that pre-war high-rise, this tower better be good. The new Marriott at 701 Seventh Avenue is painfully boorish.

Today

Waiting for Godot

The developer purchased this parcel from the Rockefeller Group, which built the Barclays Tower one block to the north.

I wish that a forward thinking developer would finish the Barclay/former Lehman Brothers HQ. While it is an amazing building now, it was specifically structurally designed to be extended in case of future need. That could reach supertall status if it happens.

There's so much competition for office space. If they want to shoot up a resy addition that might make more sense. Of course Barclays can always ramp up their US operations.
