DB to resignal Frankfurt S-Bahn tunnel
Wednesday, March 18, 2015

GERMAN infrastructure manager DB Networks has announced plans to invest €95m in renewal of signalling systems in the 6km Frankfurt City Tunnel to increase capacity and improve reliability in the core of the Rhine-Main S-Bahn network

The project is due to be completed in 2018 and involves replacing the relay-based interlocking, which dates from the opening of the tunnel in 1978, with an electronic interlocking. DB Networks will replace 154 signals, hundreds of axle counters, and 160km of cables.

The tunnel from Frankfurt Main Station to Frankfurt Local Station and Mühlberg has six stations and is used by eight S-Bahn lines with up to 24 trains per direction per hour at peak times

I'm sorry, but the level of graffiti is disgusting inside the stations. For such a rich and important city it really needs to have improved cleanliness and upkeep on the transport network. Munich is a perfect example of how to keep a network clean and working in my mind.

I never spotted much Graffiti in Frankfurts Stadtbahn, maybe you refer to S-Bahnstations like Ostendstraße, Taunusanlage and some in Offenbach. As I wrote before, ceilings with aluminium-panels have been torn down nationwide in DBAG underground-stations due to the bad experience with the Düsseldorf-Airport fire in 1996. Still I don´t understand why they don´t create something new, it really Looks crappy at present.
