ARLINGTON | Central Place | 119m x 2 | 390ft x 2 | 31 fl x 2 | U/C

Central Place is now under construction in the Rosslyn neighbourhood of Arlington, directly across the Potomac River from Downtown Washington, DC. The Central Place complex will be the tallest in the DC metro area upon completion, although it faces competition from developments farther to the west in Tysons Corner.
  • North Tower (residential): 390 feet, 31 floors, 377 units
  • South Tower (office, known as CEB Tower): 390 feet, 31 floors, 525,000 s.f. of office space
Website: Central Place

Render of the northern (residential) tower, across the street from the recently completed and vacant 1812 N Moore.

Render of the southern (office) tower, anchored by CEB.

Progress:

Crane now up on the northern (residential) tower, with more groundwork and beginning excavation for the southern (office) component.

Second crane up. This pit is a lot bigger in person.

You mean directly across from Georgetown.

The new building next door is notorious for being mostly vacant when it opened. It'll be interesting to see what happens to this building.

It's one stop from Foggy Bottom on Metro, two from the heart of the CBD at Farragut West. Both are focal points of Downtown DC.

1812 N Moore (the one you're referring to) has so many overlapping problems. Nothing wrong with the building, but it was built during the recessionary boom and finished as growth slowed; it's too expensive for all but the top of the market, which isn't going to move from DC to Arlington. Compounding that is Arlington's (and Northern Virginia's) staggering occupancy losses in the office sector due to BRAC, inward migration and overbuilding for contractors during the mid-2000s. I can't see any new occupancy for it barring some game-changer.
