Can I know why does Abu Dhabi projects's cost is really high I mean 54 billion dirhams is really too much. Beside if the working scale as it now this project will not be ready until the next 3 decades.

no to mention these:
Quote:
At least 20 new high-rises are to be built on Abu Dhabi island by the Khalifa Committee. A project manager for the programme is expected to be appointed shortly. Reports also indicate that the government intends to build between 36 to 40 residential and commercial towers involving an investment of round Dh30 billion in the coming few years.

it's nice to know so many towers are coming up, just like in sharjah
i just see a problem with the advertising gcc-wide

even in dubai many people don't know what will be built in abu dhabi, whereas you can easily access information and specific details on dubai's new towers!

they have to improve their marketing me thinks

Khalifa approves new suburb master plan

President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan today approved ALDAR Properties PJSC's master plan for a new city district at Al Raha as the new gateway to Abu Dhabi city.

Maximizing the water frontage at Al Raha Beach, the new city will provide a lifestyle destination embracing residential, commercial, cultural, entertainment and public amenities.

Taking inspiration from capital cities with extensive water frontage, the new city district will occupy an area of 6.8 million square metres along the Abu Dhabi to Dubai highway on reclaimed land at Al Raha Beach.

Development costs are estimated at AED 54 billion with a total built area of 12 million square metres - arranged from 60 stories high to low-rise developments at the water's edge it will be planned for a resident population of 120,000 inhabitants. The new city district will be integrated with Khalifa Town "A" through road and related transport links, as well as the recently completed Al Raha Beach Hotel.

The underlying theme of the development will be to enhance Abu Dhabi's natural wealth of water and beach frontage. A unique feature will be the provision of a water taxi service, serving all parts of Abu Dhabi island as well as outlying islands such as Sadiyat and the International Airport. This will provide a new form of urban transport for the city and add to the tourism offer for the Emirate.

"We are delighted to be directed by His Highness the President to undertake this significant, landmark development in the heart of our Capital" said ALDAR's Chairman, Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.

Work will start immediately on the development in accordance with ALDAR's master plan and development guidelines.

ALDAR Properties PJSC is a premier real estate development, management and investment company headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The company was formed as a result of an initial Public Offering (IPO) of shares. The PJSC was created under Emiri Decree No 808 of 2004.

ALDAR Properties PJSC was created to fast track real estate investment opportunities, and to offer an opportunity to participate in the prosperity of this increasingly important industry in the UAE.

The current property portfolio includes major developments and re-developments within Abu Dhabi Emirate, such as the Central Market in Abu Dhabi, the Al Raha Beach Development in Umm Al Nar, the Mubadala Development Company - ERWDA Headquarter Building in Abu Dhabi, Al Jimi Mall Expansion in Al Ain, Jebel Hafeet Resort in Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain, and the Al Mudheef Urban Regeneration Scheme in Al Mudheef.

ALDAR Properties PJSC is owned by leading Abu Dhabi institutions, founder shareholders and individual investors. It has a market capitalisation of over AED 1.5 billion.

They dont bother to market their towers because the concept of freehold isnt there in Abu Dhabi. Whatever they build they are able to rent out easily because of the shortage of apartments in the capital. Once they start selling apartments and other property like in Dubai, Im sure they will advertise.

well actually, I like the fact that the development is small yet costs so much, that means better quality for everything which is a good thing because Dubai and Sharjah severly lack in quality when you look at all the new towers coming up there bar a few.

This is just the start ^_^

They want to move more people outsite the city. I think that they want to redisign the main city, so they will move the people first.

That must have been something they've picked up from Dubai, New Dubai is definitely an initiative aiming to move residents outside the city center which they're obviously trying to turn into a highly commercial area. I think if their plans to extend the creek to the sea, the people living in old villas on the resulting island will be asked to move out to one the many new developments.

Abu Dhabi to build $14.71 b. gateway city

A new gateway city will be built at a cost of US $14.71 billion as a grand entrance to the UAE capital Abu Dhabi. The waterfront development is expected to house 120 000 residents when completed and is said to be Abu Dhabi’s largest yet tourism-related project.

The master plan and designs for the new city have been completed. The ‘Water City’ at the road entrance of Abu Dhabi in the Al Raha district will be developed by the emirate’s newly set up real estate development firm of Aldar Properties PJSC.

“The UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has approved Aldar Properties’ master plan for a new city district at Al Raha as the new gateway to Abu Dhabi city. Maximising the water frontage at Al Raha Beach, the new city will provide a lifestyle destination embracing residential, commercial, cultural, entertainment and public amenities,” said Aldar chairman Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.

“We are delighted to be directed by His Highness the President to undertake this significant, landmark development in the heart of our capital,” Al Sayegh said, adding that work is due to start immediately

Taking inspiration from capital cities with extensive water frontage, the new city district will occupy an area of 6.8 million m2 along the Abu Dhabi to Dubai highway on reclaimed land at Al Raha Beach.

Development costs are estimated at $ 14.71 billion (AED 54 billion) with a total built area of 12 million m2 — in high rises that would reach 60-storeys into the sky to low-rise developments at the water’s edge. Water City is being planned for a resident population of 120 000 inhabitants and will be integrated with Khalifa Town ‘A’ by road and related transport links, as well as the recently completed Al Raha Beach Hotel. Malone Buchan Laird & Bawden, the architectural and master planning firm of Australia’s Buchan Group, has been involved with the designs of the development.

Aldar officials said that the underlying theme of the development will be to enhance Abu Dhabi’s natural wealth of water and beach frontage. A new feature will be a water taxi service, serving all parts of Abu Dhabi island as well as outlying islands such as Saadiyat and the airport. This will provide a new form of urban transport for the city and add to the tourism offer
for the emirate.

Dubai Boy strikes again with his insider info

80 towers would be great for Abu Dhabi, but I wish they added these towers to the main city itself. And if they could have some 200m talls along the new corniche, that would be great. But Im not complaining about this project either !
