Not a bad street filler.

I was a little annooyed about the demolishion of the building fronting Bristol Road, but this isn't too bad! Don't really notice the studios behind unless you're looking for them, but this will make a difference to the 'New Road' (Has it actually got a name?)

Why even make the comment when you have no idea what the issues raised during pre-app were?

The planning department made it clear they thought it was over bearing and too tall

Very well done BCC planning, a vast improvement.

Still uninteresting though.

Hoardings have gone up now, and scaffolding starting to creep up on the buildings facing Bristol Road.

So is this going to be 10 storeys and 347 bedrooms or 8 storeys and 257 bedrooms?

It'll be 8 storeys, it was amended to be a little shorter.

Here are the new renders we haven't seen posted yet, I prefer it to the earlier renders, love the gold! Looks like it'll be good quality too, same architects as the Chamberlain Student Residence and Left Bank.

Thanks Reiss. Totally agree with you. The gold looks awesome.

I passed through Selly Oak a couple of years ago for the first time in years. Couldn`t believe how much it had changed around there and at Brum Uni. Felt a bit lost.

It`s easily the most happening suburb in the city!!

Looks quite good!

Wonder if the Esso will remain long term... With sainsburys opening a Pfs at former battery site it's going to lose out on custom and the express store is already covered by the tesco in former delta PI and the new sainaburys local,

Selling up a nice feature corner block....

Much better but I am still appalled by the slow degradation of a Victorian suburban high street. Is any of Selly Oak high street in a Conservation Area?
