That would be pretty funny to see. You would need a beast of a foundation to support a spire that tall.

This building certainly is tallish, and the facade looks good in the renders, but the design isn't very creative IMO. I think that's just Trump, the guy doesn't have much taste or flair, at least not in a good way (going by his apartment at least).

True, it's not completely reinventing the wheel, but nonetheless it's a solid design, and unquestionably the best Trump tower to date (including current proposals). I think it's fitting that it is in Chicago, considering it's similarities with the design of Sears Tower. Only take Sears, make it a little smaller, and round off the edges and have it a blue/green/glassy reflective color.

Its a good building for the city of Chicago. I think it will fit right in and its citizens will grow to love it.

According to BVictor:

"Well, they started pouring the mat foundation today at around 12. They will be pouring all night until they are finished. I was told several different figures, but they are pretty much in the same ballpark. They will be pouring between 5000 and 5500 cubic yards of concrete which will arrive in roughly 550 to 600 different trucks."

600 trucks can hold alot of concrete. That must be a huge foundation.
