Google, Altavista et al all do worthy web translations.

Is it worth registering to the skyscrapers.cn forum - what will I find there?

Nice scraper, much more interesting than the dull towers that are rising nowadays in Dubai...

Feb-3-2007

I have one question:

Since the tower is a leaning one, how will the elevator be installed? to install a leaning elevator? Sorry I know nothing about architecture, thank you in advance!

from skyscrapers.cn

the elevators will still be straight, even if the tower is 'leaning'. the core runs straight up the height of the tower, because the lean is not so much, at 6 degrees.

i dont think (but do hope) for some sort of elevator that is adaptable to leaning or non-vertical spaces.. that would be interesting.

a non 90 degrees elevator is not very hard to construct.,

What is hard, however, is a leaning core. The core of this building is conventional.

Seeing how there's an elevator inside the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.....this indeed ain't a novel idea. Of course it's not quite optimal, but all in good time....

it is supposed to be like that. There will be huge cross-steel trusses to connect both sides of the building in order to make the building stand during earthquake. At the same time, that huge space inside the building serve as an atrium that span the whole height of the building.

Towers that lean to only one direction exists already. But i am not aware of towers that lean to two direction at the same time, and the two towers in CCTV are bi-directional leaning.
