This has probably been covered, but how do the elevator shafts work? Do they just start at one side and move through the floor plan as they get higher?

If that's the case, it'd be really neat if the elevators had see-through doors, so at every floor you'd see the edge of the building coming closer and closer!

Probably due to what's known in China as 'guanxi', in the Middle East as 'wasta', kind of loosely translatable as 'connections' or a very loose and more modern variation of old school tie/old boy network.

its located on the crossing of "Dongsanhuan Rd.(Ring Rd.) - Jianguomenwai Dajie" ... beside the Beijing WTC.
Jianguomenwai Dajie is the street infront of the "forbidden city palace museum" ... ride straight away to the east.

No doubt Burj Dubai is generating the maximum excitement at the moment. Although, IMO, the rise of CCTV edges it out from an engineering standpoint. What a sight when this thing starts going 'across'.

At this point they resemble the leaning towers of Madrid. But once completed it will be totally unique! The X braces give a great futuristic look.
