More shots, different angles, more horizontal elements

Finally some relatively clear skies again, so I took quite a few new shots.

I was given access to an office directly west of the development and took 50 shots & stitched them, the resulting file is about 90 megapixels!

Let's start with CCTV, here's the stitch:

A closer up look at the horizontal cantilevering that's occurring:

A close up look at the "gap" (of which there are two, next to each tower), which will be built once the "freehanging" floors are ready, also good to get an idea of the scale:

And from another angle:

The cladding is really quite impressive:

And now on to TVCC, first an overview shot:

Closer up shot at the development of the complicated "skin":

And the often overlooked northface of the building:

As per usual, many many more shots at the usual location:
CCTV Building Development

Enjoy! Again, please let me know if you'd like me to take any specific angles!

Freak weather effectively destroys CCTV crane

Thanks GH, the illustration of the construction is brilliant!

Yesterday evening, a terrible storm caused havoc in Beijing, and effectively destroyed one of the main cranes at CCTV, I took some shots of it this morning:

image hosted on flickr

Chas has a photo of the storm itself occurring: Beijing Freak Storm

Quite a few new photos at the usual location: CCTV Building Development

Enjoy!

Tom,

It looks like the long side of crane arm was torn from the cab. Is that so and did it damage the building when it fell? I know in New York we have cranes fall from time to time and they can cause quite a lot of damage.

Also, thanks for the written updates. It's really great to here a day by day, almost journalistic accounting of what's happening at the site. I certainly hope OMA produce a book on the actual construction of the building...

Everything about this building seems so complicated, from the design, to construction method, to center of gravity.
