Stunning updates, thanks for sharing! It will for sure be connected by the end of this year, but it will never be fully completed by the olympics in 08.

But with this progress it goes faster than i first expected it would go.

by CLAS on beijingupdates.com, CCTV tower will be built like below pic, then in appropriate weather condition, weld all the joint point at the same time. So it may still take some time to join. Be patient!

hey that pic above looks familiar
actually the picture is from an official slide show made by the construction team.
It is said in the news that the overhanging will be connected by december, so a month or so to go

some trivia of CCTV headquarters:
After its completion, the building will become the second largest office building in the world, after the Pentagon in the US.
A total of 126,000 tons of steel were used in the construction.
A total of 41,000 pieces of steel structures were connected to build up the tower.

It is so big that it got its own metro station below. It also got one of the biggest office parking lot in the world.

by xsnet, CCTV two towers were connected by the frist beam this morning at 11am.
