It is this smaller 40 floor Shangri-La hotel tower that is burning, not CCTV Headquarters.

This is a great loss for Beijing and OMA. I hope they had a good insurance so they can rebuild this stunning tower.
It could also be that firedoors weren't yet in place, and other fire protection was also not installed yet which all contributed to this. Plus as it was empty, it may have burned for sometime before the alarm was raised. I wonder if the cause will turn out to be something that a builder has left on.

I saw this building last year when I was in Beijing for the Olympics, it's such a shame it's been lost as it looked stunning. Lots of the buildings in the area do.

Lunar New Year is celebrated for 15 days. Last night was the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, it's called Lantern Festival...

well, i guess from now on lunar festival is forbidden in the centre of beijing.

I guess that as the building wasnt finished, the top part isn't closed yet. And some ****** thought it'd be fun to aim his fire arrow in there.

******* retard.

Sorry but i loved this project, and even since i saw that on Discovery with my dad, we've always been fond about it and talked about it every once in a while.

Terrible news, I'm glad no one was hurt.

And I wouldn't rebuild this thing in a million years! How can people say that when it went up in flames so easily? I say they tear down the ruins and build a real building there, one which isn't made out of wood.

it must also be sloppiness of some fag worker who was so excited about this celbration night that he didnt finish the job and left something up there that caught fire so easily.

What's your problem, using the words fag and ****** this often? What has being gay got to do with starting a fire?

Actually it partly has to do with the hole at the top of the building, or the smoke stack effect. That's what you call a bad building design.

Wow, I was just looking at this building yesterday even though I haven't checked the construction of it in months. I'm glad nobody was killed, but it was a good looking building.

Oh man. SAD. I liked that building a lot, too. It is a huge fire I wonder what caused it.
