In China people just sort of show up.
This is a statement I have to agree with.

When you live in on of the most densly populated parts of the world the absence of street life is the least of your concerns in fact it's usually the opposite.

Sidewalks are used for a variety of activities these include

Bike parking spaces for motos.
Hawking all manner of goods
Handing out flyers
BBQ stands at night
Parking of cars where space permits
Used by motos as an alternative to streets
Sleeping places for homeless
Marketing activities by shopping chains
Busking

Space is at a premium The thing that would affect street life most would be elevated walkways that would remove pedistrians from street level.

The problem here is not the lack of street life it's the other way around the hassle of walking from point A to point B while navigating street stalls that effectively funnel people into a narrower space, motos even cars which force you onto the streets, people handing out flyers all the while hoping somebody riding an e bike doesn't run over you on the sidewalk because they didn't see you while they were sending their friend a message on weixin. The last one is a constant problem they are big , fast but worst of all almost completely silent .

The thing I love about HK Island is on the elevated walkways is the absence of a lot fo the things the lack of impediements .

Do not worry, there isn't even a design to be changed at this moment. The render is literally a photoshop splice, as explained a couple posts above yours. The actual design of the building isn't unveiled yet.

ai

RE examine that map again and draw red lines between the CBDs of Guangzhou, Shen Zhen, FoShan, Gong Guan, Zhong Shan and Zhuhai and see where they all intersect.

Which city center were you referring to ?

Urban planners i China think more along the lines of long term strategic plans.

In this instance the Nansha free trade zone they just don't build things in urban centers to ADD to the skyline .

Agree with Gabirel900 as I always do, I swear to god hes a genius. This building's nice and I too would like to see it built however its a shame that the Burj Khalifa will be bumped down one level because of China's pure copy of it. Literally this tower is the Burj Khalifa squared off rather than rounded.
