✈ | E5/MS*/NM/NP/SM | Egyptian Airlines

Since I haven't found a thread dedicated to Egyptian aviation in the global airports and aviation forum, I have decided to open one here so that interested users can share what's going on with Egyptian airlines, including:

- Egyptair (MS), the nation's flag carrier, along with its subsidiary Egyptair Express (with Star Alliance)
- Air Arabia Egypt (E5), an Egyptian low-cost carrier (LCC)
- Air Cairo (SM), another Egyptian LCC based in Alexandria
- Nesma Airlines (NM), yet another Egyptian LCC
- Nile Air (NP), a hybrid carrier

I will also open a thread focusing on Egyptian airports and aviation developments. As for other Egyptian carriers, those can be added over time.

For a start:

Egyptair A330-300 (reg. SU-GDU)

Egyptair Express E170-100LR (reg. SU-GDF)

Air Arabia Egypt A320-200 (reg. SU-AAC)

Air Cairo A320-200 (reg. SU-BPU)

Nesma Airlines A320-200 (reg. SU-NMA)

Nile Air A320-200 (reg. SU-BQC)

Looks like Egyptair is in doldrums... from eTurboNews:

Egyptair: $1.4 billion in losses over past three years

Quote:
CAIRO, Egypt - EgyptAir, the country’s state-owned airline company, accumulated LE10.11 billion ($1.4 billion) in losses over the past three years, the company's chairman Sameh El-Hefny said.

The national airlines company announced last week that it had hired Texas-based airline advisory firm, Sabre Airline Solutions, to prepare a restructuring plan.

The contract between EgyptAir and Sabre Airline prohibits releasing its value to the public, El-Hefny was quoted as saying by Ahram’s Arabic news website.

EgyptAir reached its peak in profits of LE695.1 millions in the 2007/2008 fiscal year but began suffering losses following the uprising in January 2011, the company website shows.
In relation to the airline going to Sabre, from Air Transport World:

EgyptAir contracts Sabre to help implement transformation plan

Quote:
EgyptAir has appointed US technology company Sabre to help develop and implement a transformation program for both its mainline operation and its EgyptAir Express regional subsidiary.

The state-owned carrier is initiating a major transformation strategy to increase revenues, develop new revenue streams by June 2016 and improve efficiencies. It has been badly affected by dips in traffic in recent years owing to upheaval in Egypt. Tourism—a major strand of the Egyptian economy—has been hit hard as nervous foreigners have stayed away from the country.

Here's an image that shows everything about Egyptair...

Cairo Airport Ramp -- the entire fleet of Egyptair can be observed in it, including the A320, A330, B737, B777, and E170.
