Floating buildings

Hi everyone,
Is there a thread or forum specifically for information about floating buildings?

I'm working on the Wikipedia article for "Brooke Street Pier" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooke_Street_Pier - in Hobart, Australia. It is 5300 tonnes and four storeys, and has been reported as "Australia's largest floating building". I don't know of (and can't find any more) of other buildings of that scale in Australia, so I guess that is correct, but I've been trying to add it to a list of floating buildings around the world. I can't seem to find a definitive list anywhere!

For example, I found this article about one in Louisiana, USA: http://www.thefreelibrary.com/An+Ame...ng.-a018054702 - but can't find any more recent information about it (that was from 1996).
Googling "Players Hotel and Casino complex" "Lake Charles" gives me one result - that webpage.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Charles,_Louisiana mentions two casinos, the earliest of which opened in 2005.

I run into similar dead ends everywhere! I do find a lot of floating solar farms and floating oil refineries, but nothing about floating buildings!

Any idea where to look?

Hi chuq, I do know of one floating building bigger then that, but it's no longer in Australia. It was the floating hotel at John Brewer Reef, off Townsville. It was 7 storeys and was apparentely 6500 tonnes. It was built in 1986, and opened in 1988 but was a complete failure, and was soon taken to Ho Chi Minh. I think it's currently in North Korea and is called Floating Hotel Haegeumgang.

See this thread for some history of its movements: http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/showthread.php?t=3086

Neft Dashlari, Caspian Sea near Azerbaijan

It was built by the Soviets starting in 1947 and ending in 1959. It is the largest floating structure of all time, complete with artificial islands.

Thanks Oriolus! Yes, other places where I've asked have only returned that same hotel. I can't find anything more recent. The reason I'm asking is for the Wikipedia article, and I notice that hotel doesn't have an article (in any of it's incarnations!) so that may be my next project!

Neft Daşları looks fascinating as well. I don't know if it is a floating structure though - perhaps some parts of it? Unsurprisingly it does have a fairly detailed Wikipedia article, and although the word "floating" doesn't appear in the article, plenty of other references online do.
