In addition to SVX's post...

The aircraft arrived to Zhukovsky for certification tests.
It was 22nd and longest so far flight for first flying prototype. It took the airliner 6 hours 15 minutes to fly to Zhukovsky from Irkutsk in Siberia (a distance of about 4,500 km). The aircraft flew at an altitude of 10,000 meters.

The certification tests follow two stages of factory flight tests. The first stage continued from early May to the end of June this year; the second one began in September. During this period the prototype was tested in various flight modes, its performance envelope was expanded, and minor changes were introduced into the aircraft’s software and system.

PS
Second MC-21 flying prototype to be powered up later this week

The first flying prototype of the MC-21 narowbody airliner completed its first flight as part of the certification program on November 2.

The aircraft took off from Zhukovsky airfield outside Moscow. It spent over three hours in the air to test stability and controllability at altitudes varying from 6,000 to 12,000 m. All systems performed nominally throughout the flight, reads a report by United Aircraft Corporation.

The airframe, which is representative of the MC-21-300 baseline version, had been ferried to Zhukovsky for certification tests from the Irkutsk factory in Siberia in mid-October.

New official video as a bonus

Russia may build its new jetliners in the Middle East
Russia isn't just trying to sell its new airliner abroad. It might build it there, too.
State-owned military-industrial giant Rostec, which is responsible for exporting Russian technology, said Sunday that it has started talks to jointly produce a commercial plane overseas -- potentially in the United Arab Emirates.
The short statement, which coincided with the start of the Dubai air show, didn't provide much detail. But Russia is trying to increase exports of its new large single-aisle airliner, the Irkut MC-21, which competes directly with Boeing and Airbus planes.
One strategy that plane makers employ to boost sales is using overseas manufacturing to gain market access with local airlines. Europe's Airbus, for example, opened final assembly lines for its A320 jets in China and the U.S. to produce planes specifically to attract airlines in both countries.
The UAE is home to two of the world's biggest carriers, Emirates and Etihad, as well as several smaller ones

The aircraft would be based on largest (up to 250 seats) version of new single aisle twin passenger jet, the MC 21-400,

Russian Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) has completed static tests of MC-21's composite wing box.

Russian ministry confirms MC-21 wing-strength success

12 DECEMBER, 2017 SOURCE: FLIGHT DASHBOARD LONDON
Irkut's MC-21-300 has passed a crucial strength test for its composite wing, the Russian ministry of industry has declared.

The wing had been undergoing stress testing at the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute but had required reinforcement following load testing earlier this year.

"Truthfully, we were very worried, watching the progress of the wing loading [during the test]," says the institute's general director Sergei Chernyshev.

But he says the results of the test have "exceeded our expectations" and that the wing has "successfully passed" the critical development mark.

The wing was subjected to upwards bending to the point of destruction, says the ministry, and that the experiment has confirmed that the design has "additional margin of safety" over its design load.

Trade minister Denis Manturov claims the experience and specialist knowledge gained during the manufacture of the MC-21's composite wing will be "in demand" around the world.
